Will you be able to earn the heritage armor if you make a death knight mechagnome? I don’t care too much about the leveling part but just need to be sure before I make a DK rather than something else.

Yes, you can earn your Heritage Armor by creating and leveling a Death Knight for the Allied Race. It’s stated in the blog I linked in the thread Ekon quoted.
