Maw quest - Blazing Ingots quest

I don’t understand why it isn’t just being reverted to how everyone liked it. I feel like I am taking crazy pills; How is it a good solution to band-aid a fix onto a system that you broke for no reason or gain in the first place? Just put it back? This barely helps the problems with non-shared quest loot and feels totally unnecessary when you can just revert it to how it was.

It might be worth reminding the person who decided to make the change in the first place they don’t have to create work and hotfix something if they never broke it in the first place. It was fine the way it was when it was shared. Please ask for a full revert back to shared on both quests.

The question to ask is: what kind of communication are people wanting and is it detrimental to the development of the game to pull developers away from their work to answer questions on a regular basis.

I would rather the developers focus on hotfixing the game and on future content updates more-so than replying to forum topics everyday. I don’t remember the game ever getting as many hotfixes as it is now and just checking WoWhead on a daily basis to see what got hotfixed is almost as exciting as a patch update.

Next change is going to be first come first serve for Rescue Souls.

Personal conspiracy theory is that the change was made deliberately hoping no one would notice or care and now that they’ve been called out on it they’re going for this so-called hotfix as a cover.

I’m slightly surprised they haven’t already. Also, stop giving them ideas

I’m sure the dev team just build what the product team tell them to build. It’s very much in the prod teams job description to communicate changes to the company.

Either way, none of us know the inner workings of the company. It’s a black box. What we do know is that communication is poor. We are left in the dark more often than not. There are solutions to poor communication. They just don’t have that as a priority (see also: firing 100s of front line support people in a year of record breaking profits).

But… why make them despawn for other players at all then plan a hotfix to kind of undo the thing you did for no reason at all?

Why not just undo the change instead of making extra changes?

What was any of this supposed to fix anyways?

I know this is a reference to Ghostcrawler . People need to stop saying he was lead dev . He never was lead just a systems designer . There have only been 3 lead devs for wow (Game Directors) Jeff Kaplan Vanilla- Wrath , Tom Chilton Cat-WoD and Ion the current one Legion -.

Just did this quest and I did not notice an issue with the ingots despawning when someone collected, and I noticed other folks interacting in the same area I was after looting the ingot. Felt similar to last week.

It’s possible the hot fix reverted it, but I’ve been logged in during the last couple of hours.

hello? Ghostcrawler was a Lead Systems Designer. it’s on all his pages.

Not the fix I was looking for, just undo this undocumented change.

Well, I just did the Blazing Ingots quest with a bunch of people around me, and it was either hotfixed alrady, or nobody else was doing it. Took me 10m tops to do that and get my souls.

I really hope that they dont take the stance of:

“Well a big reason Multiboxers are a thing is because of sharing of mining / herb nodes… lets change that back to first come first serve only again to solve the problem”

Yes but the lead dev is the Game Director and Ghostcrawler was never Game Director.

Street was hired by Blizzard Entertainment in February 2008, and was the lead systems designer on the MMORPG World of Warcraft until November 2013.[9] He described his role at Blizzard as, “Systems design specifically is everything that is not level, story, quest, PvP or encounter design. My team handles everything from mechanics to items to trade skills to achievements to UI design.” On the World of Warcraft message boards, he is known by his user name “Ghostcrawler”

The lead dev (Game Director ) is in charge of all aspects of game development.

How about reverting the intentional change and that they dont despawn at all like it was originally.

All your “fix” is attempting to do is shorten the wait time you created instead of removing it like it was originally.

You are still adding a wait time that wasnt there before.

I am just… confused why the change was necessary in the first place. I feel like there are plenty of quests in the game that work just fine under the shared object method.

The hotfix is appreciated nonetheless.
