Master’s Call currently isn’t working for anything other than Marksmanship hunters who don’t have pets.
If you try to use it as BM, Surv, or Marksmanship with the pet-out talent, it bugs out a few different ways. It will either say “spell not learned” (despite being there in your spellbook) or will initiate the animation upon clicking the icon in your spellbook but not actually do anything. There will be no buff on the target frame and the spell won’t do anything at all; it just plays the animation on your pet.
You’re also unable to cast it on yourself via a macro, like we hunters have been doing for 15 years now. It will give you the “spell not learned” message.
I suspect that what’s happening here is that the game is only recognizing the new petless Marksmanship version of Master’s Call that was put into the game this patch, and isn’t recognizing the proper version for all other specs.
It could also be an issue with the new spec-changing functionality for pets that was implemented this patch, but changing their specs back and forth doesn’t fix the problem.
Bump, this is still bugged. This needs to get fixed before the new season starts on Tuesday, because hunters are unplayable in pvp if they can’t freedom themselves.
Master call for both cunning pets and marks spec does not work. Also marks the movement passive when taking the talent to get masters call also does not apply.
FIX - I thought it was broken too. but its technically not. it’s a PET ability. when they added the new MM talent or how its coded, its actually how its suppose to be. THOUGH they should make it how it use to work. currently its working like it does in classic-cata onward. just take it from your pets spell book and macro it as a pet ability can do party123 or mouseover or @play (self)
if you dont wanna do this, the other fix ive found is you can dismiss pet and call it back out. but youll have to do it every time you enter an arena etc.
Macroing it isn’t working, and that’s the real problem here. I’m getting a “spell not learned” error message from my macro; the same macro I’ve used for years, because this spell has never workd without a macro.
Currenly, if you drag the spell from your spellbook onto your action bars and cast it while out of combat, it will cast correctly onto your character. However, if you’re in combat (which is when you’d actually use it), doing this only casts it on your pet; the effect doesn’t hit your own player character, defeating the entire purpose of the spell.
This is why we’ve always used macros for this spell to cast it on our actual player character (or teammates). This spell has NEVER worked properly, but now we can’t even get it to work with the workaround (the macros).
Hunters are unplayable in PVP without being able to Masters Call ourselves. That would be like a mage not having blink, or a warrior not having charge. Unplayable, and the new season starts tomorrow.
Can’t Blizzard just check the database and make sure that the correct spell IDs are being used here? Seems like an easy fix.
