More than that, it can’t be true. If you try to only gear out certain people you like, you aren’t going to be able to progress.
When I jumped from a Normal to Heroic (pre-Mythic) guild, my first week as a trial my ilvl went up by like 20 points.
itt loot… ladies of the night… think that just cuz they’d ML everything they could equip to themselves that means everyone does. because yeah. one fully maxed out mage is MUCH better than every clothie being on relatively equal footing and contributing. amirite?
also since i mostly play a warlock i’m coming for all of your lewtz, priest. >_>
I actually transferred mid-week so I missed out on the farm bosses my first week. I joined them for a heroic clear on the weekend that week. I topped DPS on Beastlord despite the huge ilvl difference just because it was such a good fight for shadow, but I was pretty abysmal on everything else.
And your story plus mine are perfect examples of why it makes no sense to deny trials loot! If you want them raiding progression bosses with you, you gear them appropriately. Anything else is just goofy.
Mah loots!
It was funny because the other clothies didn’t need much of anything and within the first 2 weeks of passing my trial I was one of the best geared players.
Yep. The only thing was was ‘off limits’ was the healing trinket off Sha (SoO) because they had been killing him for 2 months and it hadn’t dropped which I felt was more than fair. I literally got everything else that dropped that I could wear.
i got the trinket off of normal guldan in that run. as a demo lock. i used it almost the entire expansion cuz even post nerf it was soooooo good for demo. so i get you. getting handed loot = my experience with being a trial in a ML guild. and seemingly everyone elses as well. so much for the ML boogie man trying to steal all of the loots.
In my experience, it is the lower mid-tier guilds where the drama occurs. People that think they are more than they actually are.
yep filled with loot you know what’s that are killing bosses to get gear, not gearing to kill bosses. will do it every time.
Just remove the limitations on PL trading along with all loot feeds in chat / guild logs / etc.
Let people decide if they want to give their loot to someone else or not. ML can be abused by others, PL cannot. If someone doesn’t want to give up the loot they earned to gear up the raid leader’s buddies, they don’t have to. If everyone wants to gear up certain people first, they can.
If they remove restrictions and loot feeds from chat / logs, there is no good reason at all to bring back ML.
addons show it. people whined when initially you weren’t notified. it wouldn’t solve anything because the addons that exist would show who got what and who would get the biggest upgrade.
That is where removing the feeds comes in. Remove the part of chat / other feeds where other people’s loot is announced and you’ll break that addon.
I’m thinking we’re not on the same planet, given that Ion lied about why it was removed anyway.
Why did they originally tell us they were removing master loot?
- To eliminate split runs in world first competition. This would have affected essentially no one, since those players are such a tiny minority.
And actually, almost immediately people pointed out that split runs would continue and become even more common.
What ensued was chaos on the forum, where pro-ML and anti-ML trolls duked it out. The pro-ML trolls displayed impressively bad elitist behavior, creating many threads, but notably a series of 10 “We don’t steal trials’ loot” threads, which were full of toxic elitism, and were bumped constantly to keep them on top of the forum index.
They had to delete the threads, as they were full of insults showing what trash some of the worst actors could be, as well as attempts to incite players to violate the rules by falsely reporting anyone who dared post disagreeing with anything those self-declared raiders said.
“How dare you have an opinion on this topic and post on my thread. You’re not a mythic raider. I’m going to falsely report you and I want everyone else to do the same.”
Not to mention that several of the people who were bragging about “Not stealing trials’ loot” were actually outed as having exploited trials by not giving them loot and keeping them on trial status for an indefinite period of time…
Lots of people were suspended because of this behavior that was apparently unmoderated. And one day the threads disappeared and Ion had suddenly become concerned about a handful of trials who might not have been getting loot for a month under the old system.
The majority of guilds did not use Master Loot. Those who only did normal raiding and maybe some heroic are actually the majority. And they were glad to get away from having to distribute loot.
Probably he was only talking about mythic raiding guilds. Nobody else counts.
The real reason they removed master loot was to slow down gearing and make content last longer.

For some reason won’t let me link it

When they first added PL it didn’t show drops and people lit up the forums with how it felt like the bosses didn’t drop anything because we didn’t see it.
True. And what angers me is that for all we are constantly screeching about time-played metrics, the time it was BLATANTLY OBVIOUS that they did, we were too busy fighting with each other to take issue where it was deserved.
Also, FWIW, I will agree there were some bad actors on the pro-ML side, but there were also plenty of them on the anti-ML side. Let’s not not attempt to revise history.
He gave his reason in the interview. What you have is a conspiracy theory
And if they put that back, they can just claim that there are plenty of drops, you just don’t see them if you don’t win.
People have been complaining about the lack of drops even with the visibility they have now - only instead of speculating that there isn’t enough drops, they have numbers to back them. Seems like a way for Blizz to slightly reduce the complaining.
Blizz handled this really well. The only people upset are super high end mythic guilds and abusive Gms and officers
