Massive stutters with DF client

Still no change, so will just keep posting daily until we get a response.

Has anyone else noticed their coloration of things in game seem more “bright” and “vibrant” since 10.0? Its almost like a cartoony kind of pungency to the color that it makes everything come across looking almost “wet” in a way?

I’ve fiddled with every visual option available to see if maybe something there has a hand in it, but nothing. Gamma shifting, ffxglow set to 0 and all but its just everything’s colors look almost like they are a slick/sticky kind of wet, or are a polished form of metal.

Yeah, I am so done with World of Warcraft. I left after the drama at Blizzard and came back hoping things died down and that the game would be a bit better. Nope, I put too much faith in the devs. I am still experiencing extreme stutters when entering dungeons and raids and while questing outside.

Today was the last straw when I entered Shadowpan Monastery. None of the mobs were visible and I couldn’t see any of my party members but I could clearly see them moving on the map. Not even the first boss was visible. I tried a reload and 10 minutes later the reload screen finally appears and 10 minutes later the loading bar appears. I gave up after that. By then the dungeon would be finished. I forced shut down my computer because I couldn’t minimize World of Warcraft to force close it. I couldn’t even get ctrl+alt+delete to work.

I will not be buying Dragonflight. It’s clear that Blizzard has no clue what they are doing. This issue was reported during the beta and they still released it like this. How sad…

Everyone give this a try: set Render Scale to 100%, Ambient Occulsion Type to ASSAO and Resamble Quality to Bicubic.

Edit: this reduced stuttering a little for me, but it still doesn’t run like before prepatch.

If the world was loaded, but the enemy/player assets weren’t, that sounds like a network issue. Your client has to talk to the server to know what dynamic assets to load. This could have been caused a server under a lot of load or a connection issue between your PC and the WoW server(bad hops can cause this issue). Also, some firewalls and VPNs can lead into these issues as well.

That definitely points more and more toward a network desync. Everyone has seen it at least a few times while playing WoW. From the 10 min desync load screens to the ones where you go to loot a mob, it gets laggy, then you get stuck in the butt dragging position until you either DC or the server<>client catch up and everything fastforwards around you. Until then, you can roam around the world, usually still see chat (home server), as you get further away from where the server last saw you, new NPCs will not load and usually players won’t either.

Anyways, your issue was a connection issue. Now where the exact point of failure lies, I don’t know, but you’ll need to run a WinMTR to find out while it’s happening next time.

Just tried this. Did nothing. Asset pop in still bad. In fact, for npcs/actors it appears to have gotten worse over past few days. NPCs are loading at average 40-20 yrds away, down from the max 60yrd-30 I was seeing before. So sad…

I wanna buy DF so I can be a dragon on Tuesday but this is just so upsetting idk if I can or if I should. Kinda already want a refund just for this last month of game time…

Now I’m getting pretty long delays when opening adventure guide/Mount journal pages. Hitting like 20-30 fps spikes even just switching between raid tiers. Still also getting stuttering in places like Oribos.

I’m glad I’m not the only one. Every time I turn it turns into a PowerPoint with no transitional sliders lol. :frowning: Not to mention raid combat is almost untenable entirely.

We will just have to keep posting here, I’ve tried all I can think of tbh and it just won’t get smooth like the day before prepatch.

Yeah… i suppose so. Wait, you’re the person having view distance problems too right?

If your computer / processor can handle it, I found setting view distance to 10 has helped mitigate the stuttering issues. That way it loads assets less, thus less stutter. Probably would make issues worse on a weak / mid range computer however.

Fun new symptom my game is experiencing is that if there’s more than 5 people in the immediate area participating in combat, the game totally freezes! Entirely. I cannot raid and doing dungeons is extremely difficult. And then I get a “World of Warcraft is not responding” message from my computer. :smiling_face_with_tear:

It’s pretty bad in Oribos for me as well. My computer loaded Oribos pretty quickly pre-patch, but now it’s got constant stutters in that entire strong text map.

That’s interesting. Really makes me wonder if the view distance issues some of us are having are directly related to people’s stutter problems.

Things that I have personally found to help the issue. Keep in mind this is just my own personal experience.

View distance maxxed.

Setting video card setting to my actual video card instead of the auto detect.

Getting rid of nividia gforce experience completely.

Things that have not helped at all…

Windows updates

Driver updates ( actually some of these introduced brand new bugs, and I had to roll back to a older one…)

DO NOT USE THE REPAIR TOOL. IT SOMETIMES WILL LOOP AND NEVER END. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Other issues I have noticed.

The game does not start as fast. I am on a m2 2tb ssd and it loads way slower than last patch.

Also the game gets stuck on “initializing” when updating patches and hangs. Takes like 20 times longer than it used to.

Just longer load times in general in every aspect of the game.

Now despite certain people gaslighting us into believing its our own systems we know the truth. Something has changed and they do not want to be honest about it. We go through this every single expansion so I am not mad nor surprised.

I just want it fixed…

Oribos is unnavigable. Like, less than a frame second. Maybe the game hates how many players there are and tries to crash, or something idk

That’s weird that uninstalling geforce experience helped you. Huh. Ok. Well, I haven’t even really been having too bad a stutter after first week of prepatch or so. Now it’s just render distance is really bad, and nothing I do seems to help. I ran outta things I can think of so now I’m just rooting around in the files in the wow folder.

which driver did you have to roll back btw?

Currently using 497.29. I have stayed away from all the 500s b/c they cause 100% GPU usage for me, even if its a display error I do not like it.

Honestly my previous driver was 479. something, and it performed better than all the other ones I have tried. I settled on 497.29 b/c I didnt wanna go to old.
