That IS a separate issue. Losing overall performance was NOT a symptom of the problem this thread was created for.
Still hasn’t been fixed. Whatever update they did the offered solutions just aren’t working. There is a deeper issue here I believe, but hopefully another update will fix it soon!
How do you know it fixed it 100%? for me yes I no longer see stutter I’m using 3070ti… But I saw terrible stutter last night… At Oribos. like so bad.
Because people had already found what the problem was. Blizzard made the changes so that we didn’t have to.
I use a 3070 and have had perfect performance since the most recent patch.
Wat was the problem? if you don’t mind saying.
It had to do with the shader cache. It was just assets being loaded on the fly instead of compiling. Hence anytime something new came on screen the FPS hitched as the asset rendered.
Forget the plural of anecdote being data, you’re one of the wonderful people who believes a SINGULAR anecdote equals data.
Yes, many people phrase the issue with stutters wrongly looking at a drop in average fps rather than the actual frametime graph. But that doesn’t mean they’re wrong to continue to perceive an issue that they might not be perfect at phrasing.
From my own -actual- testing, on a system that would most likely make yours look like a ‘potato’, both before and after the cvar change and then the hotfix, the issue is most certainly lessened substantially vs before the ‘fix’, but it is -not- equivalent to prior to the patch. And we should not settle for anything less than the previous level of performance.
I pray you do not work in any field that requires critical analysis. If you design bridges for instance, please let me know which ones so I can avoid my car falling to its demise when I drive over it.
Just report this guy for trolling and ignore him, he’s well aware what he’s doing and doing it deliberately.
With the spread of system hardware combinations and even reports from all versions of OS’s (Mac/Win10/Win11 etc…) it is very clear there is still other changes that had a negative effect over all on the performance of the game outside the scope of the straw man attacks of “your potato hardware”. the latest update pushing the “GxAllowCachelessShaderMode 0” does indeed help alleviate the major frame drops but it does not fully resolve it completely. Blanket labeling something as fixed adds nothing helpful to the process of helping Blizzard narrow down what else was changed that had unintended affects.
It’s great that the problem is fixed for you Lustmord but its not for everyone else the game is still not smooth like it was before. The fps drops before could barely be felt but now you feel every little bit of lag and that’s what this thread was also about so it’d be nice if you could stop dismissing everyone.
“I” does not mean everyone else. With the shader cache on, I would get stutters but when everything finally loaded, it was buttery smooth. With the “fix”, I no longer get the stutters as bad, but it is no longer buttery smooth.
So when you say:
It really isn’t a separate issue, when one affects the other, is it?
what do you mean seperate issue?
there is an Issue with “massive stutter with DF client” it’s like there are 100 people here are still complaining about stuter and you keep saying it is fixed… LOL
AND ALSO its not yet found, THE MAIN ISSUE IS, people fps drop/stutter compared before patching the prepatch
explaining like 5 cause you really do not understand.
-before 10.0 FPS is like 160
-after DF fps is like 100-unstable at the same time micro stutter MAIN ISSUE with 80% of the people still here not fixed
most of the DXdiag posted here are not hardware issue, if you look at the spec, it is always semi- mid to high end with 3060’s i7’s etc.
even my spec is i7 and 6600xt which is not high but should be enough for wow
I had to take the nuclear option and do a complete factory reset of my laptop, wiping all my drives. My latest install of WoW coincided with the slowdown in-game bleeding out to everything else on my computer. I opened Pillars of Eternity and had the same kind of jerkiness and slow-down. My install of Morrowind was so corrupted it wouldn’t even open my save game. I don’t know if they are connected, but it sure seems like a hell of a coincidence if they aren’t. Things seem ok now based on some cursory playtime. Then again, I suppose there might have been something Malwarebytes was not catching that was dragging my system down like an anchor.

Is this link working for your team?
I have done everything. None of your tech support options worked. I have no addons loaded. I have tried to repair game via bnet wow launcher, results pulled up nothing. And I have reinstalled entire game, all nearly 100gigs of it… I have updated all of my drivers.
My stuttering issues have mostly been fixed. However, like OP of this thread had reported, I am still having horrendously bad asset pop in. I’ve pretty much measured it at ground textures are not fully rendering until literally a staggering 10-5 yards away from my character, and ALL npcs/enemies/player actors and potentially 20-30% of objects on screen are not rendering in until 60 to 20 yards in front of me. These objects include boxes, barrels, fences, spikes, ALL fires, firepits/sources, all kinds of bushes and shrubs, rocks. However, the worst of all of these objects, are 10-20% of TREES. YES. TREES. Which are large objects. And I am now running into them while flying. Basically, if it’s in most cases not a massively large object, except obviously some trees, it will have bad pop in for me.
I am experiencing this at any movement speed. Running. Walking. Mounted. Flying. Same results. Please tell me how am I going to fly a dragon at 900% speed if I’m running into trees and stuff that won’t render properly?
This was noticed not only on max settings, but also high settings. This is NOT my hardware, as I have played on max settings over the past 2 years. And I had absolutely no issues like this whatsoever up until you released this horrible patch. I did not even have fps loss. No lag whatsoever. I have tried to play on high settings or medium settings now, to see if that would help, but it didn’t. Because why would it. I have also played wow since vanilla and I have NEVER experienced this, ever.
So, idk I hope you don’t tell me it’s only on my end. I mean, again, this happened when loading the game directly after prepatch hit. Game looked incredible literally the morning hours before your patch went live. I remember because I was playing. Getting ready to do mage tower.
So I’m sorry but I gotta be honest, after exhausting all options on my end, this really seems like something you did and I want you to fix it because I have put a lot of money into your game… And the fact there isn’t even acknowledgement of this in your known issues section of the patch is upsetting to me. I kinda want my money back at this point of waiting with no word whatsoever… and I’d rather use the money I was using to play dragonflight, to allocate towards a potentially much crappier game than wow like Gotham Knights which I can at least play without these horrible asset pop in issues.
I just can’t play with this level of quality…
Please fix my game or my un-sub/uninstallation is imminent.
Sorry, and thanks! Hope to hear back soon.

PS EDIT: I can absolutely provide video evidence if need be, just let me know because I don’t wanna go through extra work of recording footage then upload it to YT unless you actually need that. Or if your team does some kind of screen share customer support so I can 100% prove I am experiencing this, I can do that too. Just let me know please
This is 100% false. So you’re saying that the game is just running bad because ppl have bad pcs. Like some ppl told you, this is not a problem with our pcs. How can you explain that i am having 100 fps constantly and it just go down to 40 just walking around oribos? Im still having micro stuttering and the game struggles so hard to load textures. I tried to put everything on low and still. I used to have 100 fps constantly with no drops even in open world before the pre-patch.
You need to stop telling lies and if its fixed for you thats great, but many ppl like me, have good pcs that can run wow very good with no fps drops and we are having the issues mentioned before, even after the emergency maintenance.
So pls stop spreading misinformation and saying things like Blizzard fixed it, they are probably looking for the problem and you arent helping saying its 100% fixed.
Ok, so after a couple hours on this character leveling, I switch over to another account to get an alt to level 10 I need for something. I am getting drops from 144 to 15 fps for up to 30 seconds at a time in frickin’ Durotar, which is about the least graphically intense place I can think of that is relatively unchanged in that department since 2004. I have literally factory reset my laptop, and this is STILL happening, and frankly I’m not even sure at this point given what I have experienced that it is even safe to have WoW installed at the moment.
Started a new toon on Exiles Reach and getting much lower frames at the large mob section than I was before pre-patch. I can confirm my settings being the same as before.
As someone used to always keep an eye in CPU/GPU usage and temp, I must say that something is weird for sure. Prior to the pre patch I was running WoW with my CPU in a very comfortable 40-48c temp, and now my CPU is always at 68-75c temp, with FPS locked at 120 and my custom settings that I use since ever. I’m running in a I9-9900kf and 3070.
To put in perspective, not even Bannerlord very big battles/sieges in ultra settings manage to put my CPU over 62c temp…
Something odd is going on, this game was not supposed to tax my CPU like this…
Running on windows 11 same issue
went from a screen locked framerate of 165 down to 11. Even trying to add the GxAllowCachelessShaderMode fix doesn’t work anymore.
edit: deleted addons and the usual folders…same problem. Load into Beta…plays just fine…at least from a FPS perspective.
