Massive stutters with DF client

The GPU usage is sitting at 100%, which is straight up bad for the card. It also causes stutters and less smooth gameplay overall, along with choppy videos/streams if you watch on a 2nd monitor. This only happened after Blizz added the “fix” themselves, removing the line from config file.

I uninstalled game. Not gonna have almost 100gigs of space taken by something I can barely look at without massive disappointment, or even be able to play without running into trees and enemies rendering in right in front me for that matter.

Will keep sub for maybe another week? But I don’t wanna keep paying for a game with this low quality, when it’s been perfect performance wise for years. If I wanted a game that performed like this, I’d go install star wars old republic.

So, unless ya’ll either fix the asset pop in issue? Or just acknowledge it as a known issue, at all? In the slightest? I’m unsubbing…

Like I said, let me know if you’d like video footage of the issue and I’ll reinstall.

I’m having issues too.

When the PTR prepatch was up it worked fine for me. And the night prepatched dropped, everything was also fine, (except of course for us largely being unable to enter large cities because of the chaos.) My framerate was smooth as ever. No issues, even with my PC a tiny bit behind on the min requirements (not by a lot by any means, certainly not enough to be a significant hindrance)

But the next evening, after prepatch had been out for 24 hours, my framerate massively plummeted and was not helped by doing the shader cache fix or by dropping my graphics settings lower. Today I tried to log in again and same issue. I’m currently trying another scan and repair and another check for updates but I am concerned that the problem will continue once I’m back on. I’ll edit this post if it magically resolves itself or if it’s worse.

UPDATE: Trying to scan and repair gives me “Whoops! Looks like something broke. Give it another shot.” This has happened both times I’ve tried to scan and repair - and even when I tried to update. I’m a little glad I got my current game time with a token bought with gold. But if I can’t get in I can’t exactly justify resubbing with $ next.

Lol I feel you completely. I’m canceling sub if they don’t fix anything within like a week. I’m sure as hell not waiting entire month with an active sub for actual dragonflight launch if I’m still gettin assets and enemies rendering into my face while I’m moving. Ridiculously bad service.

And honestly its not like I even wanted to cancel it. I really wanted to play dragonflight. But not if I’m going to be dragon riding at 900% speed right into trees and other assets that didn’t load until it was smacking my toon in the face

Yeah same things happening to me. Perfectly fine before the patch, now it struggles to load anything fast in busy areas which was never an issue before Tuesday maintenance.

The update def helped, but the issue IS NOT FIXED yet. I went into torghast and omg the stutters was damn near unplayable. It said my fps never dipped below 75, but the stutters said otherwise.

Just want to mention I am having the same issue here has described by countless others. I have an RTX3070. Prior to 10.0, I had silky smooth gameplay (I just bought the PC) and now its a mess… I hope a solution is found soon.

Adding my name to the list of people having this issue. It’s definitely not a hardware problem for me. I do video editing for a living. My PC is far beyond the recommended spec for playing WoW.

Same thing is happening here…

Try to play with NVIDIA settings, + Turn off Ray tracing in WoW. it was turned on with the patch for me.

I have found something really interesting about the new FPS issues today in my own troubleshooting.

I have used the shader fix which worked everywhere EXCEPT Oribos.

I still get as low as 6 FPS in Oribos specifically (but 60fps in zereth mortis, stormwind etc…)

Anyway what I notice is in Oribos my RAM Usage goes up to 99% (15.6GB used.)

Checking RAM usage again in Stormwind and it’s only 48% (7.76GB used.)

Seems like a memory leak in Oribos?

What is the shader fix plz?

it’s honestly crazy how this thread turned into just a stutter thread, but OP (like myself) and a few others have included details of experiencing really terrible asset pop in/render problems. I sure hope tech support team doesn’t overlook people like me and OP complaining about that… it is like unbearable to look at/run into trees. :frowning:

Google for “GxAllowCachelessShaderMode” or look up a few posts for the Icy Veins article on it.

Moot now as Blizzard has made this change for you as of the last mini-patch.

Since I first made this post about my issue I uninstalled wow and reinstalled and frame rates have returned to normal for me. There is still a slight stutter after a screen loads or after going through a portal but after a couple of seconds it’s fine. Frame rates might drop to 50 and return back to 100 in a few secs. This is much better than being stuck at 6fps regardless of resolution or how low I set the graphics settings. One thing I’ve noticed though is the options under shadows are completely blank and no text is shown for each field. I can select the first option and the dropbox will appear but an error message is display in chat window stating unable to apply setting 6 etc. If I click on other shadows options the dropbox wont load. I’m not sure if this is related or whether others have that issue with shadows. Uninstalling and reinstalling is a bit extreme but at least the game is now playable for me. Hopefully this may help someone with their issue. I did try GxAllowCachelessShaderMode but that did nothing for me.

What fixed my issue just now is ridiculous but have now confirmed it to work with 5 other people - Select your graphics card specifically in wow graphics setting even if it’s your only card and you have no internal GPU in your CPU.

For some reason when it was left on auto select i had 6fps in Oribos but when I chose my graphics card specifically (the only option in list) my FPS is now 60 again in oribos like it was before 10.0

As I’ve stated before, I got 10 systems I tested on and I put all the settings to the exact same as before prepatch, including the one you mentioned. The problem still occurs across Windows 10 and 11, Intel/AMD/Nvidia GPU and AMD/Intel CPU combinations, along with 1080p, 1440p and 4k resolutions.

Have you tried win 7? Working sweet for me right now after both fixs i mentioned.

You are a genius!! This FINALLY solved my problem. I went from super low settings and my characters mucking around in glue (it felt like) to now I’m on full settings and works beautifully!! (Nvidia vido card, just FYI.) THANK YOU!!
