Lustmord, the issue being fixed for you does not mean it has been fixed for everyone else. The English language has not evolved to the point where I could make this any simpler to understand for you.
The hotfix today fixed the issue for everyone that had the issue. If you are having issues still, its a separate issue.
No need to worry. The technical issue has been resolved.
Not resolved for me… will try changing files
As many others have noted here; the update today has improved the stutter but (in my experience) has nowhere near resolved it. My frame limit is capped to 100 and prior to the today’s minor patch, running laps in a busy Oribos would drop the framerate to 30 or 40 for each major stutter. Post patch it reminds me more of a microstutter issue where the drops occur just as regularly but instead of to 30 or 40 it’s now to ~80. Unfortunately, even with a VRR display, this is incredibly distracting and actually makes me feel nauseous playing the game.
Hoping for a proper fix soon or I’ll have to get my 6 month sub cancelled and come back if/when it’s playable (for me).
Stop spreading misinformation! I work professionally testing/monitoring systems, and I have access to 10 different ones currently, all having the same issue. The shader “fix” is a band aid, but people still have lower fps and some stutters compared to before the prepatch even went live. Also Blizzard did not up the graphics in old zones, thus making the entire “oh system requirements are higher now” invalid - that’s for Dragonflight zones only.
Absolutely unplayable stuttering and multi-second lockups even after the recent patch.
It is like it is reloading the entire graphics engine every few seconds, the screen locks up, turns black, renders again and pops in models, locks up again, repeat.
Well the issues persist and seen that affect all zones, places like Nazjatar, Dalaran, Stormhein and others where FPS was high (90+) and GPU usage was low (23%) looks like the opposite now.
Just a note, after the last hotfix it just didn’t fix the problem but also deleted the command that the community found the bandaid fix. (in the config flie)
it’s impressive how arrogant and annoying this thread got.
The hotfix DID NOT fix the issue stop spreading lies thanks =)
NO it is not been resolved, like people are saying here, fixed for you is not fixed for everyone, and it is not seperate issue. People before DF Prepatch were having 100-150 FPS but now they lost around 50% of that FPS. so thank you and stop spamming it is FIXED
As people are somewhat confused by it going away from the config or it not being fixed for them, the “bandaid fix” is applied by default now after the latest build, which is why it’s gone from the config (as it is the same as the now default behavior).
There is no longer a difference in setting it to 0 in the config vs. not setting it at all.
There are multiple issues (going off the amount of people still having problems) that are causing worse performance post-prepatch, setting the cvar to 0 and by extension the latest build did fix the stutters for me and some others in the thread.
However, the generally lower FPS, other stutters and some of the issues people are mentioning in the thread still persist, likely due to other causes that aren’t related to the console command, which from the start didn’t fix the issues for everyone.
Saying it didn’t fix the problem might be true for you and not for others at the same time, likely because your problem does not have the same root cause that the cvar fix fixed, which is to be expected with so many different setups/configurations.
Keep reporting issues (and posting dxdiag’s like the blue asked) so they can continue to investigate these and hopefully fix them soon.
I have terrible framerate and lag issues too. Played just fine pre-patch. I have tried a full uninstall/reinstall and didn’t help.

Just to add more info into the topic
stutters and fps drops still there
Been having this issue on live since the update and on beta (to a larger degree) for quite some time. I’ve tried turning graphics settings down, resetting UI and the workaround console command. On Live the command seems to work well enough, but I’d need to explore more areas. However on the Beta client it doesn’t seem to work at all, while walking around a nearly empty Valdrakken I drop to a very shaky 50-60FPS and pointing the camera to the sky which would normally take me to my monitor refresh rate (144fps) has it struggle to maintain 100 while getting much louder than normal.
Really hoping the root cause is found and fixed because I have a bad feeling once launch happens and there are way more players around I’m going to be having a very bad time.
Did I do this correctly?
My stutters feel a little better, the range of frame drop isn’t as extreme. The last two days I’ve seen swings of 100fps from a simple camera turn. Now the drop is more in the 10-20frame rate range, which is still annoying but not quite as game breaking.
Did you try the console command that has been floated as a temp fix?
Well some people got it resolved others not… perhaps try to play with the NVIDIA settings + WoW graphic settings… that could help.
Ray tracing was on btw with the pre patch… so maybe this cause a lot of stutter for people if you have RTX cards, try to turn it off and see.
It fixed the issue, for anyone that had the issue. Sounds like there’s another separate issue causing performance issues. Or maybe peoples potato systems can’t keep up anymore.
