Massive stutters with DF client

No, just the “edit-mode-cache-account” and “edit-mode-cache-account.old” files. This probably doesn’t address the freezing that some of us are having, but maybe it’s a fix for folks who’ve been having issues since 10.0.5. That’s not my tweet, by the way, I’m just sharing a possible solution.

Just tested this on a few PCs, one which has several OSes on it, didn’t do anything. Which makes sense, since PCs tested at work have fresh installs and no chance for corrupted files.

Has US servers had their update? If so, any improvement?

Logged in… I have 56 fps where I had 120+ fps in OLD zones.

Tried it at a one and it still not changed (FPS going up or the stutters). It feels worse

EDIT:
Was having 100 - 165fps last week Sometime lower with stutters hitting 80’s.

Todays FPS
Today have not even hit 100 and stutters hitting as low as 45.

Edit 2: It won’t let me link anything.

Oh my god this fixed my CRAZY fps drops… I was regularly going from 150 fps to sub 10, it was almost unplayable

Restarting my laptop helped up the FPS a bit… So, after WoW updates try restarting guys… Stuttering in firelands LOL(finishing the staff on my main Ally priest… Have it on my og horde priest, mage, lock…) Sound or no sound. Lowest graphics or ultra still no difference.

Edit: Stormwind, Org, Oribos stutters are really bad today… Alot more players tho…
Not sure about Dragon Isle…

Nope. Still stuttering all over the place.

Turned sound back on, raiding / mythic / dragonflight the stutters are still very much there.

As far as I can tell, zero improvement…

Tbh it feels worse today I hit 20fps in stutters (165 to 20 or 100 to 20) even at graphic settings 1… The fps rate, drops, and stutters don’t change be it settings 1 or 10… Did the sound thing and no sound again and still zero difference… Stormwind is unbearable to be in today as is Org… Obiros is bad but not as bad.

Edit: Thank you for sharing your update and feed back. I know you said you would

I’ve been having some pretty serious fps issues myself since launch, and this helped a ton. It didn’t completely remove my fps losses, but it sure made the game a lot more enjoyable to play. Thank you for linking this.

Averaging 120fps prior to the update. Now barely hitting 80fps.

I was hopping on the PTR to test out the new variable rate shading features when I was greeted with the stutter because I forgot to open throttlestop and turn it on to activate the Windows Defender Boost feature in it(google about it) and then turn it off and close out of it. TS doesn’t have to stay on or open to do this, but it just has to be done once per restart. So here’s a good test showcasing the difference between what stopping the Windows Defender counters can do(doesn’t adversely affect the security protection, these are just counters):

Absolutely nothing changed between those clips, the camera hasn’t moved, etc. The only thing I did was hit on and then off within TS and then closed the program. The brief stutter at the start of the second clip is because I hit record. I wonder how many other people’s graphs look like the first clip because they don’t know about the security counter problem on Microsoft’s end.

weird thing happened today i only get 7 to 8 fps playing in game. what is wrong?

8FPS is the minimum range for the foreground/background FPS sliders. Check your max foreground FPS slider. Turn it on, drag it to where you want it and then turn it off or leave it on if you desire. You probably had it messed with my Nvidia Geforce Experience changing the game’s settings to what it deemed optimal. This was an issue months ago when it was incorrectly setting the foreground to something low like 8.

It could also be that the client didn’t have focus and it was using the background FPS, like if you’re using dual monitors and were messing around in a browser on a second screen, WoW would go to 8fps then.

Yet again we have Pawgwalker with something unofficially meant for laptops, and mostly Intel CPUs. I’ve ofc tested this, and it doesn’t do anything to the stutters in WoW. Besides on every Intel system I’ve downloaded Counter Control on, it shows that Windows Defender does NOT use those counters said program is supposed to disable.

A lot of us have posted or sent in our dxdiag to blizz. Quoted the blue so you could click it easier and reply to it with the dxdiag

Yes. ms went from 900 to 1200

New Nvidia driver that apparently activates Reflex. Why would Blizz put this in the game months ago, if Nvidia had to activate it NOW? Anyways, as expected there’s no performance improvements.

Reflex was put in the game 2 weeks ago not months.

EDIT: Did some testing.
Fresh install of nvidia driver 2/8 update. via DDU
sfc file check repair for the hell of it.
deleted WoW WTF file to start clean. No addons.

Tested Nvidia Reflex and reflex with boost/ disabled etc.

There were no changes, The game client still stutters horribly across all Dragonflight zones and continues to happen in older zones (Testing in Durotar and Orgrimmar)

Nvidia Reflex and Reflex with Boost actually added latency.

I give up. Done…I don’t expect a fix or reply any longer from Blizzard.
