So I spent this morning trying to farm the mats I needed to level up my cooking and engineering by killing oasis snapjaws in the barrens and noticed as I did that I kept not getting any loot…none, not even the normal whites and greys that you except to get. Moreover, when I tired to skin the corpses that had no loot I kept getting a error that “this corpse is being looted by someone else”, which was very clearly not the case.
So I come to the fourm to ask if anyone else has noiced something simliar and are angry as me about this…after all, blizzard made us wait though the long beta phase to make a stable game and this is a -massive- effect to my gameplay experince, seeing as how it affecting my loot almost 50 percent of the time and thus is making it take twice as long for me to level up my profession.
Ive noticed this as well, but im just chalking it up to me not remembering correctly after over a decade and being spoiled by loot raining from the sky
Some guy yesterday in elwynn was saying he was killing mobs for the candles for 3 hours and got zero. I asked if he was in the right spot and he was, and if he was in a raid which he double checked and was not in any group. Kind of odd but I’ve heard it enough times now to wonder, but also seen enough false positive stuff (arcane crystal full bags) to remain skeptical.
Let’s see. As of this posting I’ve submitted 5 bug reports on copper, tin and silver mining nodes with that same error message.
For me to actually mine the node i had to exit and then re-enter the area. My only educated guess. It spawned on one layer and you are trying to skin on another layer.
Another frustrating thing is when you kill mob and it glows as if it got loot, you click loot and it’s empty. Quitr annoying when you’re skinning mobs and have to click all those empty loots before it allows you to skin them.
Classics beta was actually really short when compared to most Betas we’ve seen in the past from Blizzard.
Every game has its bugs and hiccups, I try not to get too riled up about minor stuff. I myself haven’t noticed any bug affecting my looting. Maybe check the bug sub forum to see if anyone’s reported anything. If not try making a post there.
It’s a hard thing sometimes. Back in Vanilla I had great days, where the loot flowed like rain. I’ve also had bad days, where even the most common drops were nonexistent. People used to say to shut down the game completely and relogg because it would “reset the roll.” No clue if it ever actually worked.
Loot in WoW is based on a /random roll factor that is rolled like a slot machine as you’re looting. The mobs don’t spawn with their loot predetermined. So when a mob spawns, it technically has zero loot. Then when either it dies, or you click to loot (can’t remember which one) the system performs a roll of sorts from its loot table. That ultimately determines what loot if any a mob has.
For cooking, level fishing up with it. Way easier to catch fish then farm for specific meat drops.
The error you got from skinning happens to me when I click real quick after looting. If I click again it allows me to start skinning
