from the photos online twitter showing people lining up to get quests and kill mobs.
the login queue is only just the start here… it might be better to try play another night after all.
If layers work the way they said it does, adding more layers would benefit and then they can slowly converge layers as populations level out a bit. If 20,000 players are trying to play on a realm, have like 10 layers (2k people each layer) and then merge layers later on when they drop to 1000-1500 ish. Especially after people start getting into the 30-40 level range, everyone is going to be more spread out over the world ya dig
You know vanilla had free server transfers, right?
It was to help the overpopulation problems of some of the original launch servers
If they offer free character transfers happy to move off to low pop server to level and move back when i hit 60 when things calm down.
So what you’re saying is that you have no evidence or inside information that this won’t even out shortly? Great news for everyone I guess!
Maybe you dont mind missing out on actually playing with a group of your friends rather than being the lowbie being dragged through content - but I do. I guess we all like content in different ways… some people actually like playing.
Try considering those people who never actually got to play at all today and are paying the same amount of money as you? Maybe you should be as considerate as you are trying to sound and log out and let us all on? lol. I didnt think so.
Layers should be automatic. Every 1500 people in queue should create a new layer automatically. Maybe I just don’t understand
My point was that you didnt need inside information to see that something needed to be done to fix the situation on OCE with one PVP server and queues of 10 hours. I guess the irony of you asking for inside information on a possible fix for that was lost on someone as dim as yourself.
They added more servers after the fact, but the issue is they allowed name reservations so we are all kind of locked into these overpop servers now regardless.
Someone obviously thought that 10,000 people were going to long in and that was it. no one would be interested in this classic thing.
they are doing a shutdown in an hour, i am hoping someone in engineering has a fix for this mess.
You’re just an unpleasant person aren’t you? Is it really a shock that your friends didn’t wait for you?
My friends shouldnt wait for me - why would you wait for just one person. My point has been that these issues could have easily been mitigated by understanding the limited choice they gave OCE players, the high demand for that single realm at character reservation and giving players more choices before launch. In the spirit of this thread, the promise of an eventual realm xfer would be even better because people would have some certainty and could begin playing right now on one of the lower queued realms which they only launched hours and hours after launch.
Again, I’m sorry you weren’t able to play with your people. I’m sure Blizzard is well aware of the queue times and difficulty some people are facing, such as yourself.
They’ve already stated that they have plans in place to address these issues. The cool part about a plan is that it’s generally designed to work based on how a situation plays out, so in this case, I’d imagine that they are working to address your issue.
you will probably find that your friends can now run you though dungeons and power level you anyway. 1-40 isn’t that hard to do.
“actually like playing”… get over yourself.
Right now, im playing on what i consider to be an alt. My main is going to be on arugal. I made a decent choice to not race for server first and just enjoy playing the game regardless. Perhaps you need to manage your own whopping sense of entitlement… paying the same amount of money… as if I wasnt faced with the same queues and choice… Good grief.
For everyone whose unsatisfied right now, the fact is there will be a heavy drop in players between now and two weeks from now. Everyone is rushing to try it. There are a handful of players that will drop off, for example
-
Players who never played vanilla and want to try it but aren’t prepared for the missing QoL
-
Players who played vanilla but are literally over a decade older now and want to play but seriously lack the time
-
Players who are are nostalgic about vanilla but don’t realize they actually don’t like the difficulty and time commitment (gotten use to the way things are now)
-
Players who are playing it to troll people (yes they exist)
There’s a big number of people who fall into these categories and more. Things will be much nicer after a couple weeks. I’m more hoping we don’t end up with a few dead servers too quickly. There aren’t “millions” of players who want to play this. Realistically I think 4-5 US servers would be enough after the dust settles.
This x 100. What kind of friends let you level alone to catch up? Definitely not Vanilla-style friends
They might get there eventually but I’m sure they will look at it for a few days. 6 total of my old guild are playing so far. None of us were able to get started on whitemane so half rolled Sulfuras late last night and the rest will join today. Small group, and it wasn’t hard to re-roll because we had zero progress. They will probably see how much of the overloaded servers are like us and then open the free transfers to get some level teens characters off those overloaded ones only as necessary. just mho.
Layers are zone specific not world wide. Layers don’t increse server capacity, it kicks in when a certain amount of people are in a zone so they can complete quests so the server isn’t overloaded with a bunch of people in northshire and valley of trials which runs the server hardware to the max and shuts the server down because it’s overloaded
Yes, it’s only been a day. That is hardly a traumatic loss. Reroll while its still early.
I agree with this completely.
They need to offer free character transfers, or at least a minimum.
Otherwise they will have a whole bunch of dead servers, upset people.
