firmly disagree shadowy duel should have been removed in SL when rogues were one tapping people through all defensives.

As someone who pvpā€™d to a high rating as ele back in DF - it was very strong, but not god mode like some casters ended up being (balance, spriest for a hot minute, warlock).

The bot stuff is really stupid but thatā€™s owing to the nature of its rotation. Iā€™m fine with them making the rotation lessā€¦bot-like. The problem is theyā€™ve gone the opposite direction for many other specs.

Casting in pvp isnā€™t like it used to be when the stops were line of sight, interrupts and cc with cooldowns. Now thereā€™s a million micro-ccs and ways to stop casting. Specs have iframes, ways to drop target, knockdowns, etc. that donā€™t DR with the other things like interrupts and cc. If you want casting to be threatening it needs to feel REALLY chunky and not just for cooldowns, or the zugzug train will run you over.

Eleā€™s previous state was ironically a ā€œmodernā€ wow thing - if we want that to change the nature of M+ probably needs to change because thatā€™s where class design stems from.

i like how you touched on the micro cc issue, i dont think there is anything more tilting then being triple drā€™d by stormbolt shockwave and stormbolt again.

the only issue i have is if youre a caster i expect you to cast at least one button once in a 5 second window, if youre just running away from me while spamming an instant cast ability that does a third of my health bar its grossly out of proportion than the archetype being played as it has been. I think id almost prefer almost unstoppable casts going off then just "oh he blinked and im rooted and hes just running away while spamming instant abilities with no set up killing me through everything.

If you want the model of ā€œcasts without interruptsā€ MM hunter is probably the model then.

Personally I think the cast bar, with all the other stuff theyā€™ve added, is an outdated model. Theyā€™ve bandaged it up with duct tape via precog and a variety of other methods. Itā€™s stale and probably needs to change. Haste scaling can make casters absurd if they have the right cc too.

The arms race between melee mobility and caster kiting was won by melee a long time ago. M+ design also incentivizes the ā€œpush button do bigdamā€ playstyle. Unless they radically alter their encounter design in PvE, I doubt we will not see a continuation of that design reflecting into PvP. :\

i think arcane mage is the ideal caster archetype? they cast they have instants that are meaningful and they have similar mobility but it didnt feel as oppressive as ele and frost mage. even fire at some point has to cast, warlocks have to cast even though the class has high mobility, boomy has to cast and is in a similar boat to arcane mage. i feel like i would prefer a massive chunk to come from something some one has to stand still to press as opposed to ā€œyeah he just presses ice lance/lava burst with minimal set up and were kind of just deadā€

i feel like mm is more different because its significantly easier to kill than a mage the trade off being they cant really be interupted, not to say it doesnt have its issues standing still while getting trained and they just sit there and hard cast aimed shot or whatever doing half your health bar (S2/3 DF)

The only unique thing about arcane is it has absolutely bonkers mobility and defensives, along with a lot of channeled abilities.

Balance Druid barely casts outside of the most powerful spammable cc in the game. Their big go is a cd with spam instant casts to deliver the damage. Things like wrath casts need to happen, but itā€™s very infrequent. I could get down with this style of design for ele.

like i think arcane would be peak caster if displacement was removed from the game, or made arcane specific and other mage specs couldnt use it. i think the majority of frustration is 4 blinks being way out of reach in terms of being able to punish bad casters. if you blink into a wall you shouldnt displace back as i catch you just because of a mistake that you fixed with no consequence you know.

Still think Demon Hunters needs a lot more work. Iā€™m still working on getting gear but even my 75 frost mage is getting close to the damage output of my dungeon geared 80 havoc DH. Again, Iā€™m working on getting the proper gear, but it really shouldnā€™t be this bad, as I have a couple pieces of higher gear.
