Very very silly call to remove mass summon and cash flow guild perks in Cata.
Cash Flow led to a bunch of cancerous ālevelingā guilds that would just spam everyone with invites non-stop in the hopes of free gold. Itās no wonder theyāre removing that. And mass summon seems a bit less obvious to meā¦ Maybe itās considered to be a bit too OP? Could be disproportionately advantageous in a lot of situations.
Actually ALL guild perks are being removed. Guilds will no longer level as they used to in Cata. They are individual perks now tied to gaining xp with your guild.
I do think itās kind of a shameā¦ I really liked the cumulative guild stuff. Iām hoping the new system will keep all of the good while removing the bad. Stuff like guild achievements especially. I really liked the collective achievements where you had to team up and skin/fish/mine/herb an enormous amount of stuff.
Cash Flow- Cap the amount gained per lockout.
HGWT- Give the perk to summoning stones.
Solved.
I already knew they were going to remove cash flow because blizzard just canāt allow people to make gold.
But Mass summon removal is pretty stupid it was a fun ability, and the whole point of classic is to have fun and relive Nostalgia and that is a big part of cataclysm
Nah, it makes total sense.
From the wiki: āSome felt that the instant summoning effect of the spell removed most of the necessity for travel, with single players able to summon whole raids without those players even needing to know the way to the raid entrance.ā
And guess what happened. Exactly that. For example, my guild. We parked several āguild altsā all over the world and would summon our groups to spots instantly.
It would have been way worse this time.
I wonder if theyāll opt for itās replacement: Ride Like the Wind
And those āsomeā are the same people who hate flying and made us go through pathfinder for several expacs.
Makes no difference imo, I played the entirety of Cata and not once did I think mass summon removed any sense of ātravelā. But oh well, the rest of Cata seems to be intact so Iām still really hyped.
I had no problem with Pathfinder per se. it was the time gating that I found to be totally unnecessary and a big fail in the process in my opinion.
Imma be honestā¦I donāt CARE if it was OP. It was part of the Cata experience, a part some people actively looked forward to. Weāll only be in cata for like 15 months anyway, let it ride.
Pathfinder was the reason I unsubbed during Legion. I was able to deal in WOD because it didnāt require multi-player stuff. Still didnāt care for it much. Bad enough they keep finding ways to re-sell us the flight we paid for way back in TBC. 1000 gold for a coat and ear muffs to fly in cold weather. Pfft! Thatās just making things a pain for the sake of doing so. Itās like going to someoneās house and offering to sell them their own vehicle thatās parked in the driveway.
Eh, doesnāt change the fact that people would just set an addon to auto-spam everyone in hopes of getting that gold for free, even if it wasnāt unlimited. And giving the perk to summoning stones wouldnāt change how crazy powerful it is to be able to summon a whole raid at once.
Guild spam is a thing even without Cash Flow. It bogs up Trade and LookingForGroup
I donāt PVP much but I can understand how HGWT could greatly impact an open world pvp situation. It would be like a hyperspawn only itās real enemy players instead of PVE mobs. And being a guild thing, thereād be a good chance of them all being on discord together coming at you like youāre a raid boss.
I can see the reason why they made pathfinder (minus the time gate) It was to ensure people experienced the zone on the ground first.
I get the cash flow thing, although I would have modified it rather than completely removing it, like applying to guild activities but not just regular quests.
I dislike the mass summon change, it and mass rez are two things I liked the most out of Cata which is just a portal jumping expansion anyways.
Those seem like reasonable compromises. Iād be down with that.
Sure, but once upon a time that was represented by hitting the level cap - where questing to do so usually meant seeing most zones through to the end.
To clarify, I do agree that itās appropriate for unlocking flying to involve exploring everything, killing a certain number of rares and finding a certain number of treasures. But I believe you said so yourself - that the time gating was the problem.
So really, we actually agree here.
Absolutely.
