Mass reported by one guild led to permanent account closure?

I got into a small argument with a horde toon yesterday for camping Ratchet FP. Really, nothing major… I messaged him on my horde toon and told him to get a life (maybe uncalled for.) The person then responds, ‘‘you’re now on the list, hope it was worth it.’’ I get another message (from the same guild) and he told me I was being mass reported. I didn’t think anything would become of it. Literally within three hours, my entire account was closed due to ‘‘hacking’’. Obviously, we have a flawed system here if you can have your account permanently banned because you upset one person who can pay/bribe other guildmates/friends to mass report you. Can’t Blizzard see that all of the reports came in at the same time? Or that they are all from the same guild? Shouldn’t an investigation be held before such drastic measures are taken? I’m very disappointed in how this situation was handled. Case ID: #105683858
NOTICE OF ACCOUNT CLOSURE

Greetings,

We have closed this game account due to exploitative activity involving unauthorized cheat programs (commonly known as hacks).

- Game Account Name: WOW#1
- Account Action: Account Closure
- Offense: Exploitative Activity: Unauthorized Cheat Programs (Hacks)

I’ve NEVER used hacks and was told by a player I was ‘‘added to the list’’. Maybe mass report flagging isn’t the way to go? Just seems to lead to toxic/spiteful behavior.

You should remove the name if you don’t want to get in trouble here too.

Looks like you got caught hacking dawg.

Is it bad I immediately don’t believe this due to how many times people claim they were banned for nothing only to be exposed for actually doing the thing

Yeah. It doesnt work that fast.

Any hacking report would have been from a while ago.

Feel free to post here

They NEVER tell the full story.

Precisely, and even if they were banned for hacking, it would have been from months ago, not hours ago. Blizz only does a mass ban what, once every 6 months?

Firstly, this might of been better to be posted in Customer Support Forums.

Mass reported by one guild

Secondly, going off by this offense, this isn’t actually something not related to players reports, but Blizzard’s Anti-Cheat software, and the action taken was dealt with by the hacks team, which does not visit any part of the forums.

Either way, nothing can be done here on the forums.

I am sorry to hear you believe this story. That does not make any sense.

This didn’t happen. What did you really do

Your account was closed for hacking. Mass reporting for a disagreement has nothing to do with that. If you weren’t hacking, appeal it, innocent people get their accounts restored all the time

Literally that, he called me a blue rat in great red territory LOL. Not everyone is a liar.

Casting 100% doubt here.

Sounds like you were being a jerk and got called out for it.

Also, you’re too late on removing names from this as it’s already in the system.

Reminder talking about actions against your account is also against ToS .

And also, if you got an account closure, that means you’ve committted more than one offence and it all caught up with you.

Good luck on future endeavors.

I’ve appealed, no doubt. Only reason I’m posting is because a player says I’m added to a list, and within a few hours, my account is banned. I know I’ve never hacked, I get that you guys don’t. And apparently getting flagged for mass reports of hacking can get you banned…literally happened to me.

Hi

Have you tried posting here?

wrong, no other infractions.

No one gets banned for hacking in 24 hours. Language? Yes. Threats? Yes. Account closure for hacking? No. If it was an accident, Blizz will reverse it with an appeal. But there are too many suspicious facts to make this anything other than press X.

They could report you 1000 times and if Blizzard finds no evidence to support the reports the nothing happens.

You should move this thread to Customer Support.

“Blizzard never bans people for hacking and botting. It takes them months and months to do it”

Oh I know those folks. They apparently said “Blizzard only bans 1-2 times per year because they are working on ways to break the cheating/botting, and if they did bans daily, they would be constantly fighting with staying ahead of the cheats”. I don’t know if it is fact or fiction, so I just let it rest.
