The lore is all there, there’s an established Universe, Why hasn’t it been done?
I don’t know but the Legendary Edition is out now so get to playing!
5000 choices that all result in the sameish dissapointing ending.
So the BFA story all over again? Sorry, couldn’t resist.
I agree that a good sci-fi MMO would be amazing. I’d kill for Dragonriders of Pern.
They did a great job on it i’m happy to be playing it again
They need to come out with deadspace (Also would be a good MMO setting)
Andromeda + Anthem were a one-two punch that really set the Mass Effect franchise back.
Anthem should have just been a Mass Effect live-service game set in Andromeda, they’d have a lot of creative freedom to work with there, instead the Andromeda we got was garbage and Anthem was also garbage.
Until you get to the ending.
I don’t like when they create the MMO of a successful franchise but then they keep doing the solo game. It feels like a big Naruto filler episode and whatever happens in the MMO doesn’t matter because the real story is in the solo game.
Because EA sucks. They come up with a good idea then drop it like a bad habit to move on to the next big thing.
The genius cheat of if they had done Andromeda as an MMO is that it takes 500 years in the future in a different galaxy so the events could unfold naturally without interfering with the single-player stuff and the two threads could develop separately.
Seems too late to pull that move. Bioware/EA have scaled back their plans for Mass Effect quite a bit after Andromeda stumbled and Anthem bombed. Oh well.
Big Mass Effect fan, been waiting for years for this, but somehow now that it is here I’m not super rushed to pick it up. I’ve literally play ME2 more than two dozen times, so while I love the game, I’m not really in a big rush to replay it for a literal 25th time. I may get Legendary Edition just to re-experience ME1 and then stop - I’ve only played ME1 about a half a dozen times and its always been pretty rough.
Supposedly they’ve fixed the boss fights so they’re not total garbage, maybe the novelty of just seeing the new versions of the boss fights may propel me to do a playthrough.
- if you played the original, game would end at Mass Effect 3, less you want to make an MMO based off of Andromeda.
- SOme races may be viable, but then you’d have to explain how the heck you’d have Krogan Players or Quarian players (or other races being playable)
- we do have an Online version of the game, which is on ME3’s multiplayer mode
Which is the bomb by the way. Real shame it didn’t come back in Legendary Edition, maybe we’ll see it again in the future.
Because bioware owns the starwars rights for that mmo which is a way bigger ip than mass effect ever will be.
tell that to a famous series known a Warcraft
It has an MMO named World of Warcraft and it retconned a large part of (checks notes ) … the 3 single player games before it.
Does anyone actually play Mass Effect for the story / to completion, or do they just play it for the “romance” arcs?
I only played for the story. And I read it for the well written articles.
I played 1&2 to multiple completions, though the heat sink change on ancient weapons was a bit jarring. I try my best not to think much about ME3, and played it just enough to get a green ending
Tali’Zorah nar Rayya is my favorite video game character. And the first Mass Effect had the best intro to a game how it slipped you smoothly right in, imo. And a close best finish too but it side tracked to do that little bit of explanation before the credits.
But they should of left the reapers out after the first game and had the story more about the ‘local’ conflicts in said Mass Effect universe.
…and for the most part I liked Andromeda.
I bought the disk version of Mass Effect Legendary Edition.
I never bought any of the DLC content for the 3 Mass Effect games, so getting all 40 DLC with the remastered legendary edition is awesome.
