Marksman: What you'd like to see unpruned?

I read a few days ago a post in Wowhead stating that Hazzikostas acknowledged the pruning went too far. So, maybe we can see abilities coming back or becoming baseline in the future.

What you guys expect to see for Marksman?

My (realistic) wishlist is:

  1. Kill Shot back (or Chimaera… anyting that hits hard instantly on average cooldown)
  2. Careful Aim baseline (so I can get AoE options at lvl 30)
  3. Lock and Load baseline and at lower levels to add random fun.

Chimera, silencing shot, net when disengaging, serpent sting off the talent bar and back into baseline, baked in with the widow’s venom trait(mortal strike debuff)

at this point, every spec is so pruned out and simplified that …well, it would change the entire game play to fix it

I used to PvP a lot on this guy. Lots of stuff lol

Gosh where to even begin
Kill Shot, Tranq Shot, Distracting Shot, baseline all stings and traps… to start.

Unprune and return to baseline:

  • Kill Shot
  • Tranq Shot
  • Some sort of instant mobile burst (Chimera Shot or random proc shot, i.e. something like Marked Shot sans Vulnerable)
  • Mortal Wounds reattached to Aimed Shot
  • Scare Beast
  • Eye’s of the Beast
  • Aspect of the Beast
  • Aspect of the Cheetah (the real one)
  • Deterrence with two charges: two charges is essential for this type of ability to be truly useful in PvP because of the psychological effect.
  • Powershot
  • Glyph of Disengage (a personal favorite).

Returned to baseline from talents:

  • Camouflage: also re-tune it so it is effectively permanent like it always was. Take away the healing effect if necessary.
  • Careful Aim: also re-tune it to be a %crit increase so regular Aimed Shot doesn’t feel pathetic.
  • Scatter Shot
  • All Stings
  • Explosive Trap
  • Hunter’s Mark (I mean really, WTF!)
  • Roar of Sacrifice

Fix to be more reliable/useful:

  • Bursting Shot: This works fine in PvE but is broken in PvP. I think it is a latency issue, but this needs to be fixed.
  • Tar Trap: The AoE is pathetic in size and triggers when someone is PAST the trap itself, making it effectively near useless.
  • Explosive Trap: This simply doesn’t trigger often, with no obvious reason why. This is especially problematic when it lands anywhere but on the ground (like on a wall/flag pole, pebble on the ground, etc.) even if it is only off the ground by a minimal amount.

These don’t cover all the issues with MM, but they do fit under the title of the thread.

Realistically speaking, I would be happy if they brought Chimera Shot and Kill Shot back, these 2 abilities alone would go a long way.

Get rid of Tar trap already, replace it with our beloved Frost Trap -.-

I do disagree with Cammo, but it’s a minor thing. I think that it should be another stealth/prowl, including the removal of the healing factor.

marksmen is petless so we need some more mobility. We stand still to cast our abilities and our only mobility is disengage which is pretty bad 2bh.

A new mobility button that interacts with another ability perhaps?

Also would like them to bring back having both melee and range for hunters. (at the same time like classic, but expand on it)

1 ability. Part of good MM play is finding those comfy spots to plant and cast it.

I think our mobility is pretty damn good tbh.

If this is in response to what I said, I think this is exactly what Camo should be and I posted this exact thing a thousand times from Cata to WoD. I only put it the way that I did because this was about “unpruning,” and I want them to bring it back to how it was, from how it is now. I would MUCH prefer it to just be like stealth, and see absolutely no reason for it not to be. Having to cast it every minute was a contrivance, adding nothing to the immersion or gameplay for anyone.

Contrived hindrances created so that someone else can pretend their toes aren’t being stepped on doesn’t actually fool anyone (with more than 3 brain cells), they are just annoying.

I thought that you meant the MoP-WoD Camo.

I did. I meant unprune it to that state. Not because I think that’s how it should be, but because that would be better than it is now and falls under the title of this thread with “unpruned” in the title.

It’s something I have been suggestion I have been giving since before the prune. Just make it identical to the Rogue’s Stealth already.

I think it should have a longer CD: maybe 20s as opposed to 2s for rogue, though that is an arbitrary time that feels appropriate. I can’t justify it further. But otherwise yes, it should just be stealth, plain and simple without contrivances. It wouldn’t substantially increase our power level over the current or previous version of Camo. It is however appropriate for a hunter and has been a staple for hunter type characters in pretty much all RPG games, MMO or otherwise. It should have been there from the beginning.

I’d like to see a lot return but to keep it simple:

1.) Chimaera Shot - We need a big, bursty focus dump in our rotation. These whimpy Arcane Shots aren’t cutting it.

2.) Kill Shot - Even as a talent option like Destro’s, Shadow’s, and Ret’s executes. Why did ours get deleted anyways?

3.) Hunters Mark, Careful Aim, and LnL baseline - It seems like they didn’t put much work into our talents. They just left half the crap from Legion in and filled the other half with pruned spells. What’s new and exciting to pick?

  4. explosive shot - as a dot with 2 stacks
  5. chimera

  7. widows venom/ mortal wounds for aimed shot
  8. snake trap
  9. viper sting - mana drain is warranted now
  10. Bleeds returned for critical shot hit’s or give us Barbed shot too
  11. Pet cc - sleep, root’s, Bad manners (Monkey), Launch (kodo’s/rhinos), Spell interupt’s/ lock.
  12. Scorpid sting that makes others miss attacks.
  13. readiness
  14. make piercing shot baseline.
