Yes the pet/pets we have spent years questing and doing open world stuff with
A pet no one even asked for and that they would rather use one of their stabled pets
Why should some of us have switch specs again to have pets when we already lost a range spec when Surv went melee.
How about a solution that gives the non pet and pet people both what they want.
Remove Lust/.Hero from all pets and make the spell they are giving MM for it in the MM tree a class spell instead and leave every other ability on pets alone so that those that donāt want pets can not worry about summoning and those that want pets for open world can use them .
This isnt the issue I can kite just fine and Iām very good at it - I used to kite Kazak and the world dragons into town on the regular back in Vanilla.
The issue is thereās a lot of stuff where itās not viable stuff as you mentioned that is cc immune or leashed or stuff like the meader bees where they just sit at range and nuke you to death.
Even beyond the mechanics of a tank and spank with the pet what it functionally provided is a second health bar worth of HP that you can top up with mend pet so you effectively are losing 40% of your HP and 90% of your self sustain during solo content.
Other classes have ways to deal with that with shorter heals and multiple charge heals and more escapes and Shields and various other things that we just donāt have because we had a pet.
Now if they gave us tools instead then I would still be sad about losing the pet but at least we would get something instead but as it stands itās just a straight nerf.
I agree, kiting is an important skill for range spec players. Unfortunately some MM spec enjoyers have strong feelings that losing a pet to tank ruins their opportunity to enjoy some content. They may not know how to kite, they may have no interest in learning how to kite, they may know how and just not want to.
Iām not surprised losing the traditional pet is a high priority topic for a lot of players of MM. What happens in a month or two when 11.1 launches for those players? Adapt and overcome, or reee on the forums? The complaining is encouraged, for a time, offering alternatives is encouraged, for a time. Before 11.1 launches maybe we look at the new talents and total package that 11.1 has for MM and work on improving that also.
In some content I conceed it is a survivability loss. Hopefully the Devs find it in their hearts to sure up the defensive hole the lost traditional pet creates.
iāll tell you the same thing I told the other people. I donāt think Blizz is interested in the compromise, but you feel free to ask them. I donāt work for them, but I do like the change and I do approve of the change and Iāve tested the change. So if the change goes through, and thereās no compromise I will still be playing the new marksman spec. And when I need a pet to tank for me. I will switch over to beastmaster and run a single pet instead of a double and continue playing.
Trust me after 400 and some odd posts I can assure you that these people donāt want the problem shored up. They want the compromise that they donāt have to get rid of their pet, which is technically not a compromise. Itās just a reversal of the change. And for Godās sake, whatever you do donāt tell any of them that there are still two more hunter specs that have pets. that seems to piss them off.
I try hard(it is hard sometimes) to avoid telling others how to play. But at times pets are helpful, in pvp if I want, I can switch to BM with a click and cover my enemies screen with 6 pets. BM is super effective and can be briefly fun.
SV Iāve heard is as good as its ever been is some players opinions, but Iāve never used it so I wouldnāt know.
For Retribution when Iāve had complaints about its design in the past people told me I was wrong instead of play a different spec, then Blizzard made some improvements that were half measures in the correct direction towards addressing my complaits, so maybe complaints kind of work somewhat some of the time.
So it turns out I think Iām ok with the 11.1 changes, once they are polished. I just canāt say I wonāt miss having a pet on MM. For my purposes, having a separate entity to spin a flag is nice, even though the version on live comes with plenty of design problems or inconveniences.
I havenāt touched survival since the change years ago. Iāve played a lot of beastmaster, and I usually tend to stick to a single pet on that spec because I can ironically get more damage out of it if I donāt run the double pet mode. So Iāve always felt like beastmaster and marksman were very on par with one another. with this new change, I donāt have to worry about swapping to Lonewolf in order to maximize my DPS and I still get a pseudo pet in the form of an eagle that occasionally swoop in with cool animation and smack my enemy on the head. I would never tell anybody else how to play however, if there are only two other options of how to play, I would definitely suggest them. if they donāt like any of the suggestions or the current place style, the only other option is really to unsubscribe or move onto another pet class. Letās face it warlock has a pretty good tanking spec as it were.
However, I still hope that the animation of MMās sigil is not limited to eagles, and I hope that the beasts summoned by the sigil of each race will be different (although this is not possible) XP
I wish the Eagle would smack my target in the head, as of now it does 0 damage. It is just an animation. The āpetā being immune to all CC, damage, and never requiring summoning, healing, or resurrecting maybe would be just a smige OP if it could taunt or keep enemies is combat, but I sure would like it to.
We donāt have to pick one. Those are all among the reasons to not take away our pets. Thank you for compiling them to highlight what an awful change it is. I did delete those trolling ones you put in though, because that was just immature.
And Blizzardās terrible tutorialization means new players will never learn the skills, and MMs refocus on Aimed Shot makes it just as prone to turreting as ever.
Coupled with encounter design that is based around not being able to properly employ those skills due to hazards, area layout, immunities/DR, and mob density.
Well, hunter would go from having 1 spec I enjoy, to 0. It could be so OP it kills bosses in one shot and Iād still never touch it. In fact, Iām already considering walking away from a game that is increasingly disconnected from what I find fun as they continue to introduce more and more pain points.
And yet you are here, in this thread, saying you would delight in us being forced to play the way you want and decrying against compromise that would allow you to play the way you want and allow us to play the way we want.
I donāt think itās an awful change at all. Iāve tested the change and I like it. Iām sorry that some of you donāt. Itās OK to be frustrated. And itās OK to beg blizzard not to make the change. But after 400 posts of defending myself, I figured it was just easier to throw every reason I could find into one singular spot. thankfully, those people finally got the hint and stopped responding to me directly.
iām not required to agree with you. Iām not required to feel sorry for you. Iām not required to hate blizzard for the change. The only thing I have to do is give my honest opinion about something and either play the game or walk away. Why you keep insisting that I need to respect you or your opinion is beyond me. just do the same. Oh wait you already have by calling me names and yelling at me for the last 400 posts.
I am trying to make more effort to contain my feedback to the official feedback thread. I agree the way the back and forth has carried on between our sides has gotten tiresome. No one is convincing anyone to change their minds. And itās ridiculous that weāre in this position of even having sides.
Iām just gonna turn off notifications for this thread here and leave it alone. If itās in another thread, I dunno. Weāll see. Iāll try and give you a wide berth. Because you are a regular name I see on the forums and outside of this hunter hubbub I think I tended to like your posts.
iām sorry that my opinion about one change to one spec of one class has changed your mind about me in general. But that is your right. I wish you luck in the rest of the threads and I respect your decision to mute this one. You are correct. it has devolved and Iāve spent more than half of this thread, defending myself in its de-evolution.
Which is in direct contradiction to your claim of āI would never tell anybody else how to play howeverā - in which you are doing just that. Your solution is I should only play the way that you enjoy and agree with.
Youāre entirely free to enjoy the changes, no one is, or should begrudge you that. There are plenty in this thread and elsewhere expressing their general approval of the changes. And youāre crying victim, demanding we respect your opinion (which for the most part, is the case) while simultaneously refusing to respect ours. You are behaving as a spiteful hypocrite, then cry wolf when we call you out on your malicious behaviour.
