Primarily for PvP, but probably applies for PvE too:
Am I better off using Aimed Shot as filler, or Arcane Shots (regardless of focus proc) and Steady Shots while only using Aimed Shot with the instant cast proc?
I realized that Aimed Shot stops my auto-attack, so that’s mostly what makes me curious if using it is a DPS loss.
I played a lot of marksman in 2012-14 MoP and on a couple… certain servers. Basically you CAN use a hard-cast Aimed Shot from Camo as an opener, but its a lot of focus so take heed because you’d then have to follow up with applying Serpent Sting (and Widow Venom for pvp to get the mortal wounds up ASAP), and by this time you should have Thrill of the Hunt activated which you just dump onto Arcane Shot as its highlighted, and each Arcane Shot grants you 600 pvp power via pvp set bonus, so thats some extra damage, and then pop your CDs & fire off a Chimera Shot which is your instant big damage along with a glaive toss. Cast Steady Shot to regain focus and build up instant Aimed Shot procs while dumping focus via arcane, chimera, and glaive toss off cd.
Why are there so many MM hunters lately? Its not a very fun spec to play IMO, but i guess different strokes and all.
only use aimed with either instant proc, opening from camo or if you have someone in a freezing trap
In PvE, you use Aimed Shot to dump focus.
Because surv isn’t good.
