I mean, we visit each others zones.
I found trolls and dinosaurs more entertaining than fat humans and witches. The witches were decent, though.
Absolutely. The Horde got massively screwed over. In Dazar’alor you needed to FP everywhere, which was annoying. Even after they added Pathfinder, flight only marginally improved it, and by then the expansion was mostly over.
That said, I think Dazar’alor is visually a more beautiful city. Kul Tiras as a city, however, has a certain character to it that is impressive, even if not outright beautiful.
I’ve never heard of anyone who didn’t like Drustvar.
I feel like Vol’dun would stand out more if it didn’t feel so empty.
Yeah Blizz could only advance the plot after hitting the Horde hard with the “suddenly idiot” bat
“Yeah sure lets take all our sick boats from our city and send them to a dank swamp. WHAT DO YOU MEAN THE ALLIANCE ARE ATTACKING?”
Horde are the cannon fodder faction used to (try and) make the Alliance look good.
I think a video that summarises the whole situation well is the Legion intro Broken Shore scene.
Our boi Vol’jin dies to the average warlocks Felguard. Varian gets to be a Hero and dies his way.
I kinda like that voldun was semi empty feeling.
The whole design philosophy of cramming every square millimeter with SOMETHING, ala “here is an encounter location” walk 5 feet “here is the next encounter location” walk 5 feet “here is the next encounter location”, gets old after a while.
The fact that you could stand on a dune and actually almost think you were in a desert was refreshing.
Alliance Broken Shore movie near the start of Legion: 4:09 of Varian being a badass
Horde Broken Shore movie near the start of Legion: 3:19 of Varian being a badass
(oh and there’s a little under a minute of horde footage, too)
Yes, but the questing had to be a few tiers higher in quality and story than it was to justify letting that space be used to allow the zone to breathe.
Like I said, I think Vol’dun could’ve been a stand out zone. It just needed more. Either more quests, or more quality.
The undead pirates on the shore, and the attack on the Sethrak temple, were enjoyable.
But the whole thing with “we are all (whatever the name was)” thing was boring and made no sense and seemed like it lasted forever. Didn’t help that it was near the start of the questing, either.
Indeed. I feel like a lot more could’ve been done with the pirates though. They were genuinely interesting. The quests were fun, but I wouldn’t have minded learning more about who the pirates were in life. We had some snippets, but not more than enough to justify their names.
At least they were spared from exploding.
I fully admit my Horde bias and so everyone should approach me as if I am biased toward the Horde.
It’s alright to admit as much. You seem like a spy
If everything Alliance is that much better then people should, well, play Alliance.
Or Blizzard could improve the Horde experience.
I think both experiences have their ups and downs. I think both experiences could be improved by taking what worked for one, and applying it to the other.
Not to forget in stormsong they sacked that village and skewered people on the walls, though they took that out because it was “insensitive”. pssshhhaa, this is war
The Alliance zones did have more atmosphere and a very different “feel” to each of them when compared to the Horde.
Having said that, the Horde did get the Vulpera!
I mean from BFA this is kinda fair but looking back from now - content that dealt with the nelf spirit/afterlife/rebirth, planted a new tree, watched it grow and an entire raid zone defending it culminating in a brand new home whilst also ending the faction war forever. Two expansions with this story invested in it and lore to show that it wasnt the Horde that did any of it.
That’s reasonable but I don’t think that…
…this is really necessary. Both sides have their “ups and downs” as you’ve said but I prefer it that way. I don’t want both sides to have the same “ups and downs.”
I think that having two factions, two storylines, and two perspectives will always give us more than merging either the story or gameplay approach into one.
I think ive been to the new NE city once, and that was for the quest intro to it. It’s very lacking
Well, I think it kind of depends.
For example, Dazar’Alor’s layout in terms of a capital city’s services was just horrible. By comparison, every service you’d need in Boralus was tightly clustered together, making it very convenient.
So, I absolutely think the layout of services in capital cities is something Blizzard could use to improve the Horde experience, as it worked out very well for the Alliance. This need not necessarily be a 1 to 1 recreation either. The Horde could’ve been based higher up in Dazar’Alor, and used Zeppelin’s to get around just fine. Sure, it was a seafaring expansion, but I don’t buy for a moment that Zeppelins couldn’t make a water landing.
