I would assume the last one with Red Eyes and curled Horns is the actual Dread Queen & Sire Denathrius’s lieutenant.
Obligatory playable race when, that said these are way better than the previous updated Dreadlord model.
Mal’ganis has a damn fine model and I so badly want that model to be a minion appearance for warlocks.
They’re all just model options, not like “defaults”.
Wow he was right, he is eternal
Mal’ganis is here so that Calia can confront him.
Not quite as good as dreadlord Jaina IMO.
Not sure about that part, but it might be a source of some info about Arthas, I suppose.

Confront him about what? Are they even aware of each other aside from reading Arthas’ highlights?
Calia’s whole reason for being in the Maw is to come to terms with what her brother did, part of that is how much Mal’Ganis manipulated her whole family including her betrothal to Deathwing.
Sure, but Mal’Ganis was just another cog in the plan as anyone else was. Arthas would have followed anyone to Northrend, not to mention Mal’Ganis kind of got his just desserts by being the slashed by Frostmourne… but I suppose that will be just part of the plan soon. That would make the whole Scarlet Onslaught pointless if we find out Mal’Ganis was in on it the whole time.
He was wasn’t he? He killed the Admiral and was posing as him…
Now the Scarlets believe they are following Calia and Deathwing’s legitimate son. Who knows who that guy is, Calia said she had a daughter with a footman.
Ironically though her coin in the Dalaran fountain professed her love for Deathwing aka Lord Prestor, so it’s a bit sketch. Unless it’s a retcon. In the books she wasn’t interested in him and Terenas was being manipulated into making her marry him by the Old Gods or something.
Pretty much. The Scarlet Onslaught only really had a relatively brief period before Mal’Ganis appeared as the lost Admiral and started serving as an advisor. He was pretty involved in their efforts in Northrend.
He was the one that told those still alive in the Scarlet Enclave to head to Northrend, the place was being besieged by the Scourge/Death Knights at the time. It really seemed like an old Arthas/Mal’Ganis rivalry, but I don’t know how that fits in with everything going on now.
I guess Arthas was rebelling against the Jailer, so he had reason to go after him? I can’t keep track of everything anymore.
That’s hypothetically an answer to explain why Mal’ganis would work against the Jailer’s will. Arthas like Sylvanas and Bolvar and Ner’zul must have some form of free will…and Mal’ganis was tasked to make sure none of them strayed.
Varimathras was Sylvanas’s handler. As much as Mal’ganis was Arthas’s.
I’m not sure how well Varimathras was ‘handling’ Sylvanas… he seemed like he was just humoring her while he prepared for another Legion invasion and she after her revenge. It wasn’t until after Arthas’ death and Sylvanas’ fall from Icecrown that she came under someone’s influence.
For sure. I’m torn between it being the Jailer’s influence or the Old Gods, and the lore supports the Old Gods more that it supports the Jailer.
Not necessarily, given Varimathras ranting about Sylvanas’ plans to have the Horde think they gave Sylvanas leadership willingly and her plans to burn holy places down, which we know now were all part of the Jailer’s plan.
Right?! It seems at the very least Varimathras had some connection to Mueh’zala
I see it as Varimathras’s last revenge to turn the Horde and Alliance against her.
Important update:
This guys are even creepier in-game, that blue glowy thing reminds me of an umbilical cord because in-game it looks more tubular when rendered, and they kinda just… suck into themselves into a point and disappear when they die
Yeah, but Varimathras knew Sylvanas prior to her second death, and the two of them split before that even happened. Sylvanas after WotLK had a completely different modus operandi than before. So Varimathras’ knowing Sylvanas’ plans was either someone told him afterwards, or he had special wizard powers to see the future.
Or he was the one that dropped the seeds of the ideas to her even before her suicide.
