No one in my guild that spammed arenas had a CR over 1000 when the echoes went live. Most were 0’ed out ESPECIALLY in 3s where it is the best to grind.
You don’t need PvP experience to win in low CR. Blow cooldowns and turning your brain off works more often than not.
Ilvl 473. You are a raider who does +15 keys on all dungeons.
Your advice is irrelevant to the people who need the most help. They don’t have a guild full of incredibly well-geared people who are teaming up to let their gear power them through arenas for fast echoes. They may have done bgs in the past. That’s where most people are.
Ok so what is the issue? If you aren’t going to be doing any sort of relevant content why do you need BiS corruptions for your 440 pieces? Frankly all the keys I have done you could do with 0 corruption…you know…since I did a 15 key the day they opened up for loot.

You’re telling people with ilvls of 400, no essences or corruptions, and no pvp experience that they should be doing rated arenas for fast and easy echoes. These are the people you outgear by 70 ilvls and farmed in the arenas you did.
I’m sorry you aren’t recognizing the disconnect here.

They should do keys to get gear first up to the like 450-460 level and then do arenas to get echoes.
It isn’t complicated. Why on earth do you want echoes at 400 IL? I don’t understand. Gonna grind out that 5k to put a rank 3 masterful on those 410 blue gloves?
This too much too late to even bother even for my alts.
Kinda. The original problem was that you were limited to 2 Cores per week, one from N’zoth and one from Visions.
No matter how much you grind, you were limited to those two, which meant that if you started your cloak today, it’d take months for you to catch up due to how many weeks its been since Cores could originally be farmed.
So Blizzard made it so you can buy them indefinitely with Echos. Which isn’t inherently a terrible idea. Despite what OP said, farming more than 4k Echoes a week is definitely doable.
BUT the problem that exists now is that there’s too many things vying for a new characters attention with Echoes.
You need to buy Essences (2500x4 at the bare minimum).
You need to buy Corruptions, since being on a bi-weekly rotation means you’ve only got a 3-4 day window to get the corruptions you need, before they rotate and come back in 2 months.
You need to buy Vessels, since you can only farm ~3 or so of them a week and power leveling your cloak is the most important thing to do.
And now you need to also buy Malefic Cores. There’s just too many things to do with Essences and it still takes a massively inordinate time to get a character even vaguely competitive due to how many borrowed power systems have been implemented.
So I just want to make sure cuz I’m slow.
I can have more than 2 malific cores a per week as long as I farm what I need?
Yes. Theoretically you could get your cloak from 50 to 89 (current cap, 13 Cores) in one week.
Realistically you’re probably looking at ~6 per week if you do a reasonable amount of content for Echoes (+15 including cache, 2x minor, 1x major invasion, all your emissaries and clearing normal, as well as 3x Visions will net you over 8k Visions a week)

This is not a failure. They should just make it so that they get 100 echoes cheaper every week.
Ok nice lol that’s good enough for me
There’s a fine line between reasonable and doable, especially as it pertains to multiple alts.
Otherwise that’s a pretty reasonable assessment of the situation at hand.
I mean don’t get me wrong, I was just clarifying how much you can farm.
All that stuff in my later post (minus the N Clear, since I only need one core per week on this toon) is basically my weekly checklist.
So maybe it’s just personal experience, because if you’re looking to take an alt somewhat seriously, that should be at least the goal. 4k Echoes is basically raid-logging levels of effort, since you get 3900 just by doing invasions, a +15 and a Horrific Vision.
Though that’s getting off track, since I agree with your overall point in that while it’s a nice gesture to buy Malefic Cores with Echoes of Nyalotha, the currency is already stretched far too thin as it is.

I just came back to the game 7 months ago, after 5 years away, so I can’t speak for many of the xpacs. Still, the lack luster support for alts was pretty bad here. Only at the end of this xpac did they BEGIN to support alts. I enjoy leveling alts and being able to play any role, make any profession item.
The rep wall still remains for professions. The 2 profession cap forces “non-alters” to make them. They make people create alts they never wanted to play, just to get a small measure of self-sufficiency, then ensure that experience is as dry and miserable as the first rep grind. Rank 2 Cauldron recipes at exalted, while Rank 3 is a drop? Still only meager daily rep opportunities to get Rustbolt and Tortollan exist.
The quest wall also still largely remains for obtaining cloaks. Instead of 3 hours of questing, it can now be done in 90 minutes. Thanks?
The stingy nature of blizzard to loosen up on these is astounding. How long do they expect to stretch this xpac out? 2 years? When Shadowlands comes out, we will have the misery of rep and a dozen currency grinds fresh in our minds. Let people enjoy the end of this xpac. Loosen up.
well most my alts are nearly caught with max corruption for this week. I call it a win win.
anyone know what the drop rate is on these cloak upgrades i thought they were 100% but i didnt recieve one tuesday i put in a ticket and blizzard told me they are a drop chance not guarenteed whats the drop % on heroic anyone know
You can infinitely grind echoes in arena, and it’s the most efficient way to get them anyways.
