Male Orc: Hitbox/Leeway in Arena?

Now that we have Arenas coming soon to classic, would it be wise of us Male Orc casters to reroll (or boost) Female Orcs instead? Will the Male orc size/hitbox have a noticeable impact in Arena when trying to kite, because of leeway?

I always see a lot more Female Orcs than Male Orcs in TBC pvp videos featuring Shamans and Locks, and I’m wondering if this is why. I know in Arena every advantage/disadvantage counts.

In classic wsg I’d say it’s more noticable because females can slip through the Ally fence easily. Males get stuck and have to do multiple jumps to get through. I doubt this will change in tbc. The male orc hit box is only slightly larger than female and should make a very small difference in leeway and melee reach. I think males hit box tends to be about 0.1 yard larger.

Tauren are the one with the noticable larger hitbixes. Male Tauren is slightly larger than female but it mostly doesn’t matter compared to the jump from other races to Tauren in general.

I’d say a more compelling reason to play female orc over male is that the male model can feel awkwardly large/clumsy comparatively. Imo it’s harder to see as percisely where you are jumping and female orc is just better for jumps overall.

Short answer is yes, female orc is very, very slightly better for casters. This will only apply to warlock/shaman and I guess hunter. Melee get a sliver more melee reach to go along with their larger hitbox. Hitbox size was normalized in wrath. It is kind of a meme that in arena Tauren can hit other Tauren through pillars.

In classic many min/max roll female for the jump/fence advantage and perhaps melee leeway. I’ll probably be rolling male undead warlock in tbc though because I prefer male models and they aren’t too different from female in size (though like most males that fence will still screw you).

Pretty sure it won’t matter. Only Tauren and gnomes have different hit boxes. Male Tauren have slightly bigger hit boxes then female but female Tauren still have more leeway then other races. Gnomes are the opposite, smaller leeway and harder to reach.

As for the other races they’re all the same afaik leeway wise. Certain models are better “wall climbers” for sticking to terrain though.

Biggest pro to Tauren would be the extra melee range for pillar poking through walls. Rng mace stuns from out of los are always nice.

Thank you for the explanation. I think I’ll stick with my Male Orc Shaman then and I’ll use the 58 boost on something else. I just didnt want to disadvantage myself in Arena :stuck_out_tongue:

The real advantage is its harder to see the smaller more slim models is all. I can spot those giant as heck shoulders from a mile away and know which pillar you’re hiding behind even if I managed to lose sight of you for a second. Could be the difference between you getting a res or drink off. Could be nothing.

Most of the time it’ll be nothing.

It’s not going to matter very much in the end if at all. If you belong at a particular rating you’ll achieve it whether you choose to play Male or Female orc I honestly wouldn’t worry about it.

A different hot box isn’t going to make ANY difference in how well you do in arena.

If you suck you’ll be dumpstered, if you’re amazing you might just end up with a mount, and that even goes for races. Better players will always rise to the top.

They just need to standarize the damn hitboxes…

Also nerfing leeway by at least 75 to 80% on melee and entirely eliminating it on spells would be best.

Nah, the differences made tbc awesome. Homogenization is one of the many reasons why retail is so damn boring.

Homogenization in skills sure, but hit boxes being various sizes and a wack leway system is not selling me on anything other than they did not think about it at the time.
