Why did you guys kill Maladath? What was the reason behind opening to free off server transfers? Now the server is a ghost town. Why?
So they can merge it later.
Not sure why you think it’s blizzards fault ? Clearly people wanted to leave given the option.
I played on maladeth and it seemed when blizzard opened transfers people started freaking out thinking the server was dead, and transferred out without even evaluating whether the server was dead or not. Probably not entirely Blizzards fault, but certainly didn’t help.
I decided to just go back to my previous server, but fresh was fun while it lasted.
I can’t speak for others, but I had no desire to leave Maladath. It was one of the best servers I’ve played on since I started in Vanilla many years ago. However, with the free transfers off it was abundantly clear the writing was on the wall. Either move somewhere of your choice, or be forced to move somewhere later.
No transfers in, no boosts, the server was only given one choice. Leave while you still can. Its truly unfortunate as it was a really good community on the server. With that said, its possible Blizzard would have corrected the issue and open transfers in etc. But there was a bit of panic probably when transfers out was first opened up. Once people started jumping it was clear the server was done for.
Because people realized that fresh was indeed a mistake and they flocked to their original servers with all their other geared and ready chars once the opportunity was given.
incorrect, its because once again, blizzards skeleton crew running classic wow doesnt have the staff, or the ability, to manage servers correctly, they’ve been screwing this up badly since phase 1 classic.
Megaservers are an abomination and should never have been allowed.
I hate the Maladath situation because clearly, people loved the server. There have been several threads about it already. To me, seeing something that people loved fall apart matters a lot more than 99% of what gets discussed on these forums.
I also hate that the threads get flooded with this “LOL fresh” stuff and the people who do it typically are the trolls who are consistently rude and nasty on the forums, adding nothing of value to them at all. This is also much of the types of people the game has retained sadly.
Anyway, as I said in another thread, this is Blizzard doing what Blizzard does, showing that they don’t care about the things they claimed to at the start of Wrath (server communities), enough to where there was never any blue post created about this. Instead, their full-time commitment was put to making very minor changes complete with massive blue posts. Really it’s just the same old same old of Blizzard not caring about what actually matters and caring more about useless pet projects that are “fun”.
So it sucks and sorry. I’d say transfer if you haven’t. If you get the experience and atmosphere you want out of the server you transfer to great. If you don’t and there’s nothing motivating you to play then it’s fine to just quit the game. Many have quit over this kind of thing before.
the reason why is the nerds in accounting had to find ways to cut costs and one came up with an idea if they turn off Maladath, the company could save $3 a month in electricity costs. Boom money in the bank for Blizzard
we had an old school helpful community forming that didnt focus on pvp. guess they needed to nip that in the bud.
Maladath is a bad realm and needs to be deleted!
Maladath just wasn’t that much viable for many guilds. Would have been nice for them at least to state their intentions with opening free transfers. But yea once the big guilds decided to move on people followed, we were at that point that many guilds could only run with pugs and alts from other guilds.
Would have been great to be able to get merge to Skyfury but I guess pve to pvp isn’t an option. And well, you can blame streamers for creating that situation. They hyped Skyfury then left, which made Skyfury unplayable at the start. And don’t make me joke about Angerforge.
i think that was the case because a bunch of pvp guilds that were upset about ques on their servers jumped to maladath because there werent any new pvp servers popping up. they jumped from maladath at first possible chance. its sad really, the pve side had a really good community forming.
yeah before the free xfer, you could do a /who 80 for each class on both sides and see 50+ for each class. From 1-20 there was probably less than 50, on both sides but i think if i remember correctly upto a week before everyone left you could do a /who 58-65 and there was 50+ on both sides.
last week i mentioned i did a /who 1-80 and had only 8 people on the horde side, yes EIGHT total horde players online from level 1-80.
I still have 2 characters on there 1 on each side, ill probably log in today sometime and do a check on both sides (alliance had 50+ when horde only had 8)
okay, okay! I go make a toon on Maladath to help out. It should be fun playing on a Low Pop realm, especially for hunters. All those rares, ripe for the taking. No bots on Maladath I take it!
yup! Sunday before I moved my troll mage off there, i won the booty bay fishing tourney and got the cool fish trinket. Prior to the start of the event I sniped 8 rares in northrend (sadly not the timeless proto was up)
