Really Blizz…REALLY!!! Swing and a miss again. Under no circumstances should we have to do PVE to get gear for PVP. Get it together already.
I gave up on them getting the picture long ago. There comes a point where they mess up less if you let them think things are ok. Once they hear that they need to rework some things, they take it, stomp it, crush it, sling it against the wall, throw it in a blender, sprinkle on some fecal matter, and then call it new and improved.
I hate the fact that for every expansion, if all you want to do is raid/Mythic+, you can pretty much ignore PvP and not get punished for it (aside from minor things like Blood of the Enemy essence, that special weapon in Pandaria, etc). But for nearly every expansion, if all you want to do is PvP and you don’t want to touch raiding/Mythic+, you’re at a severe disadvantage. I’ll never understand why Blizzard insists on not making PvE and PvP separate and just allowing players to focus only on the aspects of the game they care about.
The only issue was that people complained that pvp gear use useless outside of pvp. That’s why they removed pvp power and similar stats. So pvp could raid without having to start from scratch.
I love that he actively does this and then I look in my bags on my Death Knight and see 4 sets of gear that are all extremely useful in different situations.
The dude is delusional.
Didn’t even know those existed still. All the PvP guilds I’ve been in died in WoD.
It’s actually insane how bad it’s gotten. Even ‘Cdew’, a pro player and blizzcon champion, was unable to obtain the PvE gear he needed to be competitive in Arena. He had to whine everyday on twitter until they put in a corruption vendor, and that is just a band-aid to the larger issue addressed in this post.
Um, that is the entire point I was trying to make. Also it’s not useless, but PvP gear should give an advantage in PvP activities, and PvE gear should give an advantage in PvE activities.
Players already have multiple sets of gear to min/max for different types of content. Why should PvP vs PvE be any different?
I dont like the idea pvp gear. Because it puts barrier to entry and to survive against other players on pvp.
But, i understand that the pvp is in an awfull position. What they could be doing is just readding pvp temolates from legion but with trinkets activated.
Or have a benthic gear like sistem with a mix of a refoging from mop, to have a little mire of customisation for your gear. And having the oportunity to improve them
There is a barrier to entry to literally all end game content in WoW. Dungeons have a set progression system of normal -> heroic -> mythic -> mythic plus. Raids have the same system basically. So I fail to understand why PvP should be treated any differently.
The attitude right here is the reason we have the garbage system currently in place, because people like you don’t want to bother to learn how to PvP properly. You just want to use your PvE farmed gear and not get wrecked by players who’ve put in the time to farm good PvP gear. So because you don’t like that experience, we have a system where people who actually want to PvP as their primary WoW experience are forced to do content they do not want to do in order to even compete, whereas the reverse is not, and has never been true. PvE players have, with the possible exception of Conflict and Strife for the 8.2 essence system, never been forced to PvP to be competitive in PvE. It’s an absurd double standard designed to cater to people like you.
I just want to have a causal experience as i can have doing pve without being utterly destroyed by people on 90000+ better than i have.
So you admit you want this double standard to exist and that you do not want to learn to PvP, and you also don’t want players who enjoy PvP as their primary experience to have an advantage over you.
You are proving my point. Thank you.
Ut having a cleaerer path of progression would be amazing, actually.
Yes, i dont thin kthat wanting casual pvp is bad, i mean. Pve has its heroic dungeons an regular M0.
Pvp should could have taht style
I never said wanting casual PvP is bad. I said designing the system to cater to casual PvP players at the expense of people who PvP as their primary WoW activity is bad.
Casual PVP like a battleground and competitive PVP like arenas? Glad we already have that
To bad they give us a trash battleground every 5 expansions
PVE’ers will just say, don’t be lazy, farm PVE content to be competitive in PVP. So, having to farm PVP gear is what? I love playing PVP and Arena with a friend of mine since vanilla. I can say BFA PVP as we all know is mainly broken to corruption, but also having to face PVE geared players with the same skill doesn’t help.
I was really looking forward to Shadowlands with a grain of hope for some type of MOP system again, but alas, so far it looks like a BFA repeat as far as PVP gearing is concerned and that is very disappointing. I think PVP gearing and PVP should definitely not be the mini-game that Blizzard keeps treating it.
I think one of Blizzards fears is without PVE’ers being able to freely jump in and trounce PVP’ers with their Mythic and Raid gear the PVP queue’s would be too long, maybe I am wrong, just a thought.
I vote with the OP, make PVP great again. MPVPGA!
That’s almost certainly one of the core motivations. There are many ways to fix that, by, oh I don’t know, actually incentivizing people to PvP by giving relevant gear? Letting factions queue into each other to reduce queue times (e.g. let Horde fight Horde and Alliance fight Alliance)? Why the arbitrary split of the playerbase in PvP?
OK this thread is Hilarious to me at this point because its obvious that we have some “newer” players here that missed out on the older PVP systems that people want to return to. Below is how it used to work roughly when I left the game 8+ years ago:
“They used to do it with different currencies. Random BGs gave honor, and rated PVP gave Valor iirc. Basic PVP gear was targeted and bought with honor and the better sets were bought with Valor…the higher you rating, the more valor you earned, the better the gear you could afford was. It really was a simple system that worked and I am baffled to pin down any reason they did away with it other than maybe someone important got roflstomped in a bg by a gladiator maybe? The state of the whole game at this point has been confusing to say the least for someone who took a long break.”
That was WOTLK/Cata…the dreaded age of resilience and I PVPed casually ie: I didn’t do Arena or Rated BGs just Randoms.
I had full sets of pvp gear for BGs in fairly short order. Similar timeliness to running heroics unless you just had absolutely abysmal luck. It was all done through the random queues. You could get better gear with ratings if thats what you wanted and every season had new sets at the top and the older sets would trickle down.
shadowlands sounds like bfa but they changed the names of all the things we hate about bfa to trick us into playing.
