Making gold

I know the token is an option, please don’t entertain it just for the sake of this post. I really don’t want to buy one.

On my realm, legendaries, not just 291s but even 262s tend to sit at 80k minimum, maybe a few will creep down to 70-60k but to me that is still steep. I just don’t have the gold. I’d be lucky to afford a 235.

I have herbalism and alch, I try to farm essentia (no luck so far and its price dropped very quickly over here), I do my callings. However, with repairs and consumes I spend whatever gold I make. I’m trying to level alch so I don’t have to buy flasks, since they can be anywhere from 400-1k gold, but it’s not happening over night. My only additional income is buying/selling flasks like I’m playing the stock market and flipping elixir of tongues (rp realm), and I can barely cut even with those.

So I guess I need recommendations on how to get gold. Not overnight but a reasonable time span.

I have a handful of alts and most are herbalist/alchemist for ease of use and familiarity, and my alts can all support each others professions with their gathering skills. I also max out cooking on several characters, since just by playing the game you will get the materials to work on that as well. It’s also nice to be able to provide your own buff items.

I am personally big into fishing and a lot of my gold comes from making feasts and selling them.

But most of my gold comes from daily callings. Like I said, I have a handful of toons and each calling gets me 1500 to 2000 gold per turn in. That’s the EASIEST way to make gold, even on one toon, because World Quests are largely trivial. If not completely trivial.

I don’t know how much time you play or how many alts you have, but that’s what I do.

Could try and farm progenitor essence, apparently there’s some way to boost the chance of it dropping.
My friend has sold like 5 of them for around 20k-30k each.

I only have 2 alts atm. The rest are sub 50 and largely abandoned (I just use the few that are high enough level, like 2-3 in addition to my 2 60s for mount runs).

The only issue with callings is that (and I do them as they come), while I do make great money fast and easy, I also spend as much as I earn. I started last week with 10k, finished with 20k, and as of today I’m down to 10k again. I don’t hoard anything, I sell anything and everything I don’t need. I had about 100k gold, and after buying my 262 and not trying to make it back I’m pretty broke.

I’ve tried this a few times and no luck, picked up the buff and everything. I haven’t completed the pocopoc tree yet (I’m insanely behind on ZM, no flying or anything because I hate overworld content in retail and it feels like homework). I think I used all my rng luck on a mount earlier this month. I’ll keep at it.

So what are you spending it on? Repairs and consumables? When are you using those consumables?

Repairs and consumables pretty much, I do m+ once a day-ish and raid twice a week (casual, hence my no-291 self can do it anyway, but theres an end point to this grace period on the horizon)

I wear mail, so repairs aren’t as expensive as they could be but still steep, and haven’t gotten the guild perk yet (although that could be soon). And one raid is easily 3k+ in consumes, a m+ run maybe 1k (which is why I’m leveling alch to make my own flasks). Since I started out with very little, its kind of a loop.

I’m terrible at making gold in this expansion so I became lazy and I’m now just buying WoW tokens when I need gold. I do a LOT of keys every week and I just can’t keep up with the absurd amount of gold I spend on consumables.

Same boat I guess. My friend offered to buy me a token and then sent me a wawa gift card worth the same value. I was humbled.

I really don’t want to buy a WoW token though. I mean I can, but I really hate the idea of dropping IRL money on in game currency.

Same but I feel like the pricing of every single item in this game is now jacked because of WoW tokens.

My advice then, if you can allocate time for it, level your professions so that you can supplement your own consumables and ease that burden on your wallet.

Even though most of my toons are herbalists, I prefer to do herb farming on a Tauren druid because of their fast herb time.

If you are doing ZM, work on the Cypher talent tree to unlock the buffs from the Jiro, one of them increases essentia drops. Even if the prices dropped, that’s still passive income if you are doing ZM stuff anyway. I noticed on my servers that the Korthite crystals no longer seem to sell at all. I sell whatever I can from ZM at the moment because I’m in no rush to collect everything from there and now is the time to try and sell.

And I still recommend getting a few alts up to the point where they can at least do callings. I have a handful of toons that I just keep on deck for when the callings happen to be convenient… like triple Ardenweald or some such.

My solution is that I don’t buy any consumables for low level content.
That saves me tons.

What would you consider low-level? I don’t use them for normal/heroic dungeon runs when I do callings (one-shot everything anyway) and I’m only prioritizing one toon atm. I have 1 other 60 toon on deck for callings with next to no gold because I only use it for repairs.

gutting the economy since WOD, then creating a wide-reaching reliance on wow tokens is the worst thing that has happened to WoW, an mmo.

I don’t understand the token hate. It’s great for helping people like me play the game for free.

They’re great in that regard, but the sheer amount of gold they’re worth makes it difficult for people without a stockpile already to compete in the economy. I don’t begrudge people for buying them, whether for the gold or for the game time, I just don’t want to dish out 20 bucks for some code that’ll be irrelevant in a couple of months if I don’t have to.

Mythic keys around 5 and normal raids.

Normal raids I’m guilty of, but I’m usually running +10 minimum.

Revive them for the sake of bank! You sitting on a fortune and don’t even want to reach for it. :frowning:

Alts make money simply by leveling. Level your alts or use real bank to buy fake bank. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

TBF I once thought up an insane scheme to get the crimson deathcharger, I have a warrior at 35 and the plan was to level her up, jump through all the hoops and try to sell the mount (200k+). If it sold, my money problems are fixed. If it doesn’t, I got a mount for my troubles.

I’ll probably give em some love.

Want to make gold in WoW it takes time investment. If you play AH or just other means of making gold the normal way. The only short cut is buying tokens. I have made millions of gold by just playing the game this xpac doing the callings, table and quests across a number of toons.
