Make wow free to play(f2p)

I think it’s time for Blizzard to make World of Warcraft Free to play. Every other MMO on the market has some type of free to play system. Blizzard could make a lot of money to improve the game overall if they choose to go this route and the players would also save a lot of money from not having to buy a monthly sub.

Where does the money come from, again?

That would mean they’d have to admit this expansion was such a massive failure they have to go this route.

So… not gunna happen. I think they’d rather just announce the servers shutting down instead of going F2P.

It would come from players who wanted to buy cosmetics and other game services that do not have a major impact on the game.

No and no. I’ve been playing for free for almost 2 years buying tokens with gold and NO interest in WoW being f2p. I think it would ruin the game.

So they’d have to remove our ability to farm Mogs and place them on the store?

No thanks.

I’d just quit.

wow being subscription based is pretty much the one thing keeping the p2w micro-transactions at bay.

and even then we still have level boosts and wow tokens, think of how much worse it would be if wow was f2p

FF14 doesn’t, and it’s arguably at #2 right now, not far behind WoW. :woman_shrugging:

I would rate the overall gameplay quality of BfA at the moment as roughly on-par with some of the better f2p MMOs I’ve tried. It’s still apples to oranges, of course, but it does make me question the value of giving Blizzard $15 for a month’s access. We’re paying for a sports car but getting a minivan- still works, and gets you where you want to go, but the trip’s just not as much fun.

HOWEVER, rather than have WoW slide down into f2p territory, I would MUCH rather the game improved to the point where paying $15 a month felt completely worthwhile. I don’t want the minivan to become reasonably priced, I want the sports car back.

I would agree accept for the fact that (at least in my opinion) Sub based mmorpgs have always had a lot better quality and fair gameplay than ones with more f2p style pay models.

Granted I don’t try as many as I used to when I had more time, but this is the experience I’ve had personally.

Plus wow tokens with gold has made things great
