In case you do not know this, WF totem and most likely Wild Strikes share proc with Shaman Imbues in the coding of WF procs. What this means is that the Procs from Shaman Imbues override the totem and assuming wild strikes. The entire group gets Wild Strikes from the Druid currently in P1 and coming in P2, Shamans will get WF Totem. However, the Shaman cannot use any Imbues and benefit from WF totem. This is a huge flaw in the class design as it prevents the Shaman from using their kit and was forced into a token support class. SoD is suppose to remove this stigma play style and make each spec viable.
So I am proposing a new Rune:
Improve Imbue Rune: When the Shaman imbues their weapons, they benefit from both the Imbue and any weapon procs from totems or other classes group buffs like Wild Strike.
Secondary Part:
Windfury: increase proc chance of the imbue to 50% from 20% for MH/2H only.
Flame Tongue: Your Flame Shock can be spread from a Lava Burst or Lava Lash ability to 4 additional targets and resets the duration of Flame Shock.
Frost Brand: Increases the proc chance to 50% and allows Frost Shock to Root the target in place for 3 seconds.
Rockbitter Weapon: Provides stacking damage reduction of 5% and can stack 4 times for 20% damage reduction for each successful melee hit. Lasts 10 seconds and resets on a successful melee hit.
I do not know if you know, but Shamans do not scale in PvE as they level. They are good to level, but not viable for end game content outside of being a token healer for the Horde. Imagine if Shamans had an execute ability like warriors, then they suddenly are viable like Warriors. It is just how classic wow was designed. They did not know how to make every class better.
This is not over power, the numbers maybe are but the idea of removing an obvious flaw of class is not over power. Shamans imbues only last 5 mins so they have to keep putting it on and that can cause some issues for players as they are not 30 min buffs like they are in WotLK.
Perhaps, but a 50% chance to proc Windfury that does 2 extra attacks at 100+ melee atk power? A slow that also roots? An aoe proc for lava lash/burst?
I would say the only reasonable one is rockbiter. I get some of these abilities added are from different iterations of the game, but lort are we going to end up in a version of era where everyone has 10 CC’s and 10 counters to those CC’s and PvP becomes a hot mess like retail?
I mean, look at what every class got in P1 and you can see that Shamans got the Middle Finger the most outside of all classes. Mages heal better than both Paladins and Shamans with just 2 runes. Elemental and Enhancement are current bottom tier. Enhance however has tanking which I think shows in the DPS recordings more than actual DPS. However, Enhancement gets screwed in Classic WoW because many of the weapons that are good are Swords.
Right now, you have to cast Flame Shock after every Lava Burst, because it takes 2 seconds to cast Lava Burst, Flame Shock lasts 12 seconds. This is what happens: Cast Flame Shock > GCD 1 sec > Cast Lava Burst 2 sec > GCD. Flame Shock has 7 seconds on DoT. Lava Burst has a 8 second CD. So you have to repeat this process again to even use Lava Burst. It is mechanically clunky and drains mana too much. My idea solves the issues of Lava Burst and Flame Shock duration.
Frost Brand can stay 20%, but it currently has no reason to use it as Frost Shock is a 6 sec CD with a 8 sec slow. So this is more about making Frost Brand a viable option for at least PvP.
WF proc chance maybe is high, but it is a Shaman class defining ability. Execute is a warriors class defining ability. Priests have Bubbles. Imagine if Shamans could put Power Word Shield on people? Paladins could execute? It seems not fair but yet here we are now with WF being used by Druids so Alliance could have that key ability and Hunters getting the Lion rune to provide kings to horde members.
Rockbitter is needed as the Shaman class has no damage reduction abilities and they have to go Enhancement to get Parry in our tree, which every melee class (besides Druids) have parry as a class ability.
Ironically this is the only broken thing mentioned. Everything else would honestly provide just enough dps to place you below the mean DPS of the current melee that it would be just okay and not over powered. Brain dead warriors thinking anything is OP with flat buffs like permanent enrage, 10% damage all the time while dual wielding, and eventually using flagellation with deathwish for another stacking 25 plus 20 percent damage increase, are actually so brain rotted we can’t help them.
But this with way of earth would make a tank so sturdy I’m not sure the balance of the game could handle it.
I think in P2, the game will be based on the lv 40 skills and the runes will focus on that aspect of the game. I just know that the Imbues for Shamans need to be part of that advancement.
