Make shuffle 3 rounds

People already complain that it only lasts 3 rounds when they get the bad dps/healer who leaves after being with them 3 rounds in a row

What impact do people think reducing the rounds in shuffle will have? I see this brought up a bunch but I don’t really do a lot of shuffle so help me understand it.

It will cycle queues faster at the cost of degrading the quality of each match

Ideally faster queues. The big complaint I see from healers is that, they end up going 3-3 constantly for +/- 0 rating. So they get bored and stop queuing.

If go you three rounds, it removes the “draw” situation. They’re either going to go up or down.

I think both arguments are valid, 3-3 is indeed kinda lame, even when I occasionally go up in rating.

I wish they’d test it out for a season or a few weeks so we could see what it looks like

Just imagine the rdruid you were with 3 rounds in a row leaves after round 4 cuz the pres evoker was dumpsters on them, leaving you with the 0-3

Why does it need to be balanced? When you’re playing 3s some comps are just terrible into others and you only get one shot. Blitz isn’t balanced and it’s still very popular.

Because you choose your own comp, and your comps strengths and weaknesses should lead into that decision

I’m inclined to feel this way. But even if I didn’t, this feels like another suggested bandaid.

If you want healers to queue, you have to consider how to make the game mode fun, and rewarding for healers.

This wouldn’t accomplish that task. It’s still the same game, but now with an added component of luck (having the better dps twice).

That would ultimately be more frustrating.

It’s frustrating enough entering a lobby and knowing almost immediately you’re going to go 3-3 unless you and the other DPS play out of your minds and hard carry, it would be 2x as frustrating knowing you’re just going to go 0-3 because you rng’d the wrong starting gate

Is this really a consideration though?

If people are playing more matches to get to the same rating, then matchmaking should be more accurate with more iterations. With the way things are right now, it is already the case that most DPS are evenly matched in most lobbies, in my humblemost anecdotal experience so far.

My argument is that the DPS would be even more even matched than they are right now, so having the better DPS wouldn’t really be a big consideration. Instead, comp could be more relevant.

One possible way to also streamline comp is to have preset comps that the matchmaker prefers, while also avoiding repeat teams of the exact same players when they requeue.

I’m all for speeding up queue times but not at the risk of giving some people unfair matchups. If you’re playing matches with random people you need to play with everyone to make it fair.

Maybe putting a time limit on matches would be a better move? Idk, just throwing out an idea.

I’ve heard ramping up dampening to increase pacing but I’d be afraid that’d make healing irrelevant too quickly.

I think dampening is a huge part of the problem, it feels awful in solo to be rewarded for keeping your team alive by it becoming harder. I have no idea how to organically end rounds without it or focusing on mana and bringing back drains, which wasn’t exactly ‘more’ fun than damp. But I do know it feels like crap.

Not to mention trying to learn in a shuffle while getting trashed on by people playing an infinitely easier role/spec the entire time likely cuts the likelihood of any new healers joining in down to 0%.

I’m pretty confident we have a community issue to solve and a how to end games while not disenfranchising healers issue. Focusing on those and how to mitigate the symptoms, less rounds never even comes up in my mind.

Make dampening increase the mana cost of healing spells to force healers out of mana so they gotta sneak drinks
and more people race change night elf ez money

eh, that’d be a good idea if combat wasn’t so buggy to drop unless you’re a night elf, and I don’t think we need more ways to benefit people playing night elf

This would be a good idea if we were actually allowed to drink anything other than mage food in solo shuffles…

The other bad part about this idea is that the rich would just get richer and the imbalance between healers even larger. Druids, MW and rsham already go oom quicker than paladins, priests or pres

Put a mana fountain in the middle of the map, has to be capped like a node in order to drink from it. Battle over drinkng water, kinda like 2075 IRL.
