I shouldn’t lose to someone in PVP because they’ve played more PVE than me. It makes literally no sense and anyone that says ilvls shouldn’t be equalized are simply not good at PVP and only excel when they have an advantage over the other.
they shouldnt be equalized because this is a RPG kyle you earn gear or you die to people who earned it. go play mortal combat if you want to hop into a game and press buttons otherwise make a relevant post that there should be pvp gear so we can gear the way we like at least
PVP happened and a Hunter died. ![]()
Isn’t Blizzards effort with hidden scaling an attempt to give us the best of both worlds?
Get wrekt Kyle.
They tried that in legion it was hated by the majority
First I like the idea of some form of templates like we had in legion. Mainly because it makes the game alt friendly.
That said
Why do you think people who invest a lot of time working with a team to complete the most challenging content should not have an advantage over someone who dosent put in near that effort?
Well, you’d hope the person who spent all that time playing would be a lot more skilled with the spec than someone who hasn’t played it as much.
Its likely a person who has spent a lot more time playing a spec is better at that spec. PVP is different because you need to know other classes and their abilities instead of some AI mob.
Not sure why you would assume more gear = less skill.
I’m saying you’d hope that they have more skill.
So, they don’t also need a gear advantage in PvP. They already have a skill advantage.
Well lower geared players with superior skill can def win at PVP. Corruptions are just the huge wild card this season.
lifers get on here and argue that we should keep it the way it is because they can spend 10 hours a day on wow. casuals get on here and argue we need templates because if they are lucky they can spend 10 hours a week on wow. no way to satisfy everyone
To an extent… Pikaboo barely had over a 50% win rate on a fresh alt at 1600. Blizzcon runner up, VASTLY out skilling anyone in the 1600 bracket and was still loosing entirely too many games.
This is pretty much my thought. Insane levels of power progression are a pve thing. PvP is about competition. I’m okay with a little power progression to appease the pvers in this game but skill should be by far and wide the determining factor. When I clap some 120k healer with back to back earth shocks crits I didn’t learn or outplay anything and neither did the healer.
My question would be was he playing with his normal partner? Its possible but i would think unlikely.
Cdew put out a great vid to demonstrate how a skilled player can only carry so much.
Likely group finder.
I think there is a happy medium somewhere though. Right now I think gear holds too much weight with corruption. The power creep in legion templates wasnt too bad other than not having the control over stats.
In previous expansions before Legion we were all running around in normalized gear the second half of a season/patch because we all had full conquest gear. It created a controlled environment and still satisfied the power creep.
What was imbalanced back then was starting on a fresh max level and getting your teeth kicked in til you got full honor gear. They have the technology now with scaling to raise the gear floor in pvp.
It’s not really helping players who know how to play their spec in PVP. Those players beat up players now just like they did in the beginning of the expansion as a fresh 120.
The passive and one click damage (corruption & essence) that’s common now, disproportionately helps the less experienced players.
How so? Rank 3 breath of the dying takes a long time grinding. No new player is gonna have it.
If you join late you also miss out on weeks upon weeks of corruption gear. The likelihood of you getting a decent corruption is super low. Decent corruption on a good item is virtually non existent.
New players are getting their teeth kicked in more than usual which is what jd mentioned being an issue.
I didn’t talk about new players benefiting from Corruption or Essence, but players less experienced in PVP.
Well then you kinda missed the point of jds post…
Also most corruptions get better with higher ilvl gear. So yes I would agree the passive damage helps a newb who has it however the more experienced player playing at a high level is still going to have a large advantage regardless.
