That is the most succinct answer yet.

Oh
If they just make that button an instant cast, it would lessen the irritation and wouldn’t require rebuilding the wheel they just hammered into existence to allow all mounts to dragon fly.
But pathfinder needs to be removed, period. If we can have DF at launch, why in the crap would we need to pathfinder the other, it’s just stupid at this point.
The game is already way too easy and convenient. Try just playing it and adapt. It’s more fun to play a challenging game. Most people have forgotten that these days.
This is the business model Blizzard has pursued since WoW’s inception, and as such, there is no reason for Pathfinder to exist anymore.
look at what their flying updates did to the firehawks - all three are affected green red and purple

For us with the right computer, addons, and macros you are very much correct. I like to enjoy my games and that often comes with ease of access actually. What was that game that an easier “Wow” took it’s customers from. Everbest or something? Har, cough, har… But seriously though, most people just want to burn off steam at the end of the day, work week, etc.
Making things difficult and elitest is a dying endeavor IMHO. Did somebody say Delves? Mythic zero without a timer? No forced PVP? Cough… Etc… Raiding is dying. People just want to have fun without a physics test to participate.
Obviously this is an exaggeration, but is skyriding really that hard for people? I don’t care if PF goes away and people can just toggle slow flying, but why do we need to make it easier to switch between the 2? We’re meant to make a choice, here. Do we want to traverse the EK in 1 minute at the expense of losing a little bit of control, or do we want to traverse EK in 5 minutes, but we can land our mount on a vertical twig?
I agreed with you 100% at the start of this and it went downhill about 5% per word after that. But I guess as long as there are ways the talented people can actually prove themselves and enjoy the game while the commons are happy fine.
That’s an immediate “nope!” for me.
They can always just uncouple it, or unlink it, from being needed for flight.
Well, I am arrogant. Let’s say you are the absolute ruler of the world. Your wealth is greater than first world countries. How do you design humanity? The trick is balance. Like the old computer game “life”. How do you design a perpetuating balance in life. Do you simply let things cycle through a war and prosperity cycle? Do you care enough to concern yourself with the quality of the soul and provide relative comfort for those whom you own the experience for?
Now what is often good for humanity is not what humanity wants. It’s the achievement of success that emboldens the ego, which leads to looking down on your fellow man, which leads to ruin and death. You have to build an intuitive balance into things. You have to make people inclined to repeat a certain set of reactions that perpetuates.
So I’d look at this game and say to myself “How can I make them exist in my game world content for the majority of the adult lives?”. Landing and casting a long spell to change mount flight type seems unnecessary friction to me.
Peanut butter would be better if it didn’t have a lid and you just had to break open the jar every-time to get a sandwich.
Flying is already great.
This is exactly why I cancelled all my other game accounts 18 years ago when I saw what WOW had to offer. Until recently, I’ve loved every day playing this game.
I laughed WAY too hard at that statement thanks!
Exactly, it’s an easy fix that wouldn’t require any development. Just as changing the 5 second cast to instant for dragon flight.
The development time went into making all mounts ably to dragon fly, and I’ll admit it’s pretty cool. Some have wonky animations, my horse skipping from side to side as an example. I even like my Druid, those animations are on point. It’s just the 5 second cast that rubs poo on all the cool.
I get some got dragon flying and never looked back, some may not have even bothered getting pathfinder. But I have loved having the choice of either style with the standard 1.5 cast time, for what’s it been? 6 months?
Now I get to look forward to adapting to the 5 second cast and losing one style until I’m done with the stories and exploring the zones, while at a high altitude going warp speed. Yea, immersing game play.
Changing the 5 second cast to instant and removing pathfinder would not have any effect on those that dragon fly exclusively. However this would be a positive for those of us that enjoy using both. It’s a win win, just do it.
Let me make one thing clear, anyone that promotes removing pathfinder is, to me, a fool that wants to stick it to not just Blizzard but those that want to be rewarded for things like exploring and doing the campaign.
This is why I am pushing just for it to be uncoupled, as in made NOT REQUIRED, for flight. Keep pathfinder, but make it so it is not needed for anything but something cosmetic, a title, a mount, whatever.
That would be a nice adaptation. I’m saying remove it, as a requirement for flight, because we get one style from the start, and have one removed. It just doesn’t make any sense to lock one while flying around on the other.
