There’s an absurd time requirement to maintain even one alt in the current game environment. Please consider changing how essence unlocks work. There’s no way I’m grinding exalted with ankoan/rustbolt again, and I’m definitely not farming 50k honor in bgs on another toon.

Every time I get the urge to play an alt, I give up about 15 minutes in after I realize the obscene amount of time-gated grinding I’d have to do. I already did all of this on my main…it doesn’t really make much sense. There’s never been a barrier this high for alts in any prior expansion.

No. Not needed.

There are essences that take very minimals amounts of time you can get, you don’t need to go do the ones that take the most.

Essences are part of gear - and it makes total sense you should have to gear up your alts.

Farming up gear is one thing. Spending months on silly essence rep grinds a SECOND or THIRD time, even though your gear is already at the appropriate level, is another.

I can almost guarantee you that your alt not having Rank 3 essences isn’t the reason you would wipe to a boss.

Yes because they made getting gear ridiculously easy and it doesn’t take months to get any of these if you actually do the content you want them from.

would a compromise be reasonable to assist alts with the reps? Like at exalted the main could purchase 100% increase to that rep for all characters on the account?

Like it would *not be a new thing as it was done in mop if i recall correctly.

Id rather essences were easier to get than the Bethic gear.

Gearing i have alot more options, essences i don’t.

It’s very possible if you raid Mythic and have to swap characters based on fight demands. There are some really rough DPS checks this time around, and some of the essences like the elemental pet are only very good at R3.

This would be better than nothing. Any way to make the process not quite so punishing. I personally think it should just be based off of having the achievement on your account - especially the 50k honor for Blood of the Enemy (actually BiS for certain specs/situations, and a huge PITA to get, even if you like pvp).

You’re cherrypicking the easy ones with low time investment. What if you need rustbolt/ankoan exalted rep? Or vision of perfection? Good luck taking your focusing iris to single target encounters. Or using lucid dreams on a dps shaman. Just a couple examples.

They all work for all the classes/specs. Why are you cherry picking the ones that take the longest ?

It takes less than 30 minutes a day to get exalted reps as well.

Most of you guys just figure you should have something right NOW which is the problem. Just play your alts and you will get even the most time gated ones.

Again, I’m speaking from a competitive point of view, where having a max rank of a specific essence actually does matter.

I agree with making essences easier to get because getting exalted is a pain. I don’t think they should be account wide though.

I like the idea of a compromise here; maybe unlock rep stones that are account bound when you reach exalted.

What are you competing in that you need the best essences on your alts ? And how can you get any satisfaction in the win if you have to get blizzard to change the rules so you can compete ?

Good thing none of these essences require you to play more than 1 hour per day (if that) to get then.

idk, how much instanced pvp do you need to do to get 50K honor on 2 different characters? is that in line with the rest of the unlocks? i mean, its doable in ~11 weeks. from the epic BG honor quests.

Making alts hard to play will also cost them $$$ because people will just get bored and stop playing, rather than stay engaged on their other characters.

So you say but all kinds of people are out there playing their alts and getting essences on them.

If you can’t be bothered now to play your alts, you won’t stick around anyway.

Do you really think acct wide garrison buildings are what made WoD a bad expansion? That’s the straw that broke the camel’s back??
