Germany was ruled by both the far-right, and in one part, the far-left. The latter basically fetishized Native Americans (unfortunately, among other lovely things like the Berlin Wall) and (rightfully) pointed out how bad the U.S. treated them all the time.
That would make sense when you’re supposedly an anti-fascist state trying to atone for the past.
