It may be an unpopular opinion, but I think blood elves were coolest when they were portrayed as being evil and authoritarian. While its a bit of shame it hasn’t been revamped I’m happy that at least Silvermoon is frozen in a point of time when blood elves were still interesting and all their new lore wasn’t yet exported off to the allaince.
Is there anything unique about blood elves now? They’re no longer the only magic elves. Maybe the stupid bird mounts?
I think old blood elves were awesome, I want to pledge my alliegance to the party and use magic to supress anyone with dissenting opinions.
I want to falsely accuse my political enemies of crimes and have them executed via a Farstrider firing squad.
I want to torture a dying Naru and steal it’s power almost as much as stealing tax money and foriegn investment funds.
I think that stuff is awesome, makes me sad they lost that flavor.
No, DSP, a lot of the edgier blood elf players yearn for a return to this era. Unfortunately they fail to recognize that this sort of villainy sooner or later either gets corrected or the offenders raid bossed.
Even as someone who roleplayed an Erevien tier Blood Knight in TBC, I was happier to see the blood elf government right itself rather than force me to liberate SMC from the evil Horde elves on behalf of the righteous Alliance ones.
Raiding Silvermoon to depose its Fascistic government wouldn’t have been any different to raiding Orgrimmar to depose Garrosh’s. That’s not the sort of story you can divorce from faction politics.
It is when it is the blood elves looking for help. We are just helping the blood elves. Factions doesn’t come into play until later.
But I was more talking about the elves can’t act a certain way because too many people either view it as alliance bait or horde bait. They just can’t be a people learning to grow themselves.
To certain people, the races need to fit a certain trope or they are too blue or red.
the alliance will never have Silvermoon. The government was rightful regency elected by Kael’thas. High elves have no rights. They must be disposed as the traitors they are.
Don’t worry buddy, Blizzard seems to be aiming to a factionless game. They gave Dwarves to horde and allowing hordies into our cities so I’d say next exp elves gonna be reunified and Silvermoon revamped to allow Alliance (maybe also Lordaeron/undercity).
