Whoever made this change in the game did something absolutely nobody asked for. 1200 rated arena crappers like myself are tired of taking 4 weeks or whatever to buy 1 piece of the current seasons gear. I swear arena motivation and participation was destroyed mainly because of this. But whatever, just my opinion so what do I know.

the funny thing is, their reasoning for making it start from 0 instead of 1500, is they think it “feels bad” for plebs to start at 1500 and then see the numbers go down :(((((
this was literally the reasoning provided when they originally made that change
and yet, here we have a 1200 pleb saying they would rather start at 1500 and go down to 1200, than have to grind up to 1200 from 0

that’s how tbc was though. it took weeks to get a single piece of current gear if you were 1600 or lower, in 2s and 3s anyway.
The new system looks a lot different but really functions quite similarly. The one big change is that you don’t need to re-buy your team every week if you are a pve’er capping 10 games like myself

I honestly think this was done to try and hedge rating inflation. It also has the bonus effect of stopping “pool parties” for Arena points where random alts lossbot from 1500 to 0 then recreate over and over, injecting thousands of points into the system.

Honestly that was the case back then for many. If you were below 1500 people would look down upon you and they would make new teams. But in today’s age starting from zero but still needing 1850 for a weapon is kind of stupid.

Pretty much. Blizzard only went out of their way to make it worst too. The team in charge of this game are so incompetent.

in the old system 1500 rating in 2v2 gave 261 points, you’d always be waiting weeks and weeks for gear, that’s how its always worked
Yes, but we had weeks and weeks of arena season to get the gear. Now we are getting 17 weeks, which is just insane. I don’t even have enough points to be 5-5 and I’ve been averaging 850 points this season.
yea and people used to not be able to clear SSC like 6 months into BT. so thats not really a good comparison
Not true. If you were around 1700 you’d get ~750 points, topping out around 1950 with marginal increases for higher ratings. Being below 1500 was punitive though as points gained went down dramatically. Also, it was genuinely hard to get and stay below 1500.
The WORST thing they did was use this system while starting teams at zero. The new “1500” is set at 1000 now but yet rating requirements for gear stayed the same. They’ve changed the way points are gained but the cumulative effect of being behind for an entire season plus shortened future seasons has virtually everyone playing catch-up.
