I’ve gone back and forth on Belore over the years. I used to dislike the idea of the highblood elves having/ever having had a deity, feeling that religion and a demonstrable god was night elf territory and sapping from that would weaken the themes of both races… but then that happened anyway with night elf mages, and I stopped caring as much about overlap.
So, maybe you should work on quoting people properly first?
Much better.
You literally just proved my point.
Yes, how dare Veren imply that Elune has a connection to other beings of power—this is classic religious superiority all over again.
Oh, sure; they just have all their actions, especially those of their armed forces, be based on what the Priestess of Elune dictates.
Um, no? No we don’t?
In Legion, the Tear of Elune is used to unlock the core of Xe’ra, the Naaru Prime.
There’s a Titan realm known as Elunaria, where the spirit of Eonar the Lifebinder took shelter to resurrect herself after nearly being killed by Sargeras.
We may not know exactly what Elune is—largely due to Blizzard’s refusal to commit to one explanation or another—but we have been given evidence to suggest a connection to the Naaru, the Titans, or both.
Because the only being they would of been able to communicate with via the well would of been Azeroth. who would of made more sense to have taught them the Langauge of the Titans and also possibly the one to teach them about Elune.
Of course, this would of happened prior to them being Night Elves so this was when they were still Dark Trolls.
God is not a human, even if he created humans, just as Elune would not be a Naaru, just because she created Naaru in her image. (If that’s what you’re getting at)
“What I’m getting at” is that, if you go onto the “Elune” page over on WoWpedia, you’ll see that there’s like, 4-5 different points under “Speculation” as to what Elune actually is.
Is she a Light Lady, is she a Titan, is she a Naaru, etc.? We don’t know, because again, Blizzard is pretty reluctant to commit to any one explanation on the Kaldorei-centric deity.
We do know she (probably) has some connection to the Naaru, since only a Naaru of Xe’ra’s line could unlock her core…which we then do using the Tear of Elune.
We do know that she has some connection to the Titans themselves by way of the Tear being a Pillar of Creation and by way of the world of Elunaria.
But we still don’t know the exact nature of that connection for certain.
It is immensely saddening to me that a fun theorycrafting thread about the possibility of a solar deity with loose ties to some Horde races has been so thoroughly derailed into an argument about whether or not Elune is “night elf exclusive” or not and people trying to deny adding such a character because it somehow steps on the toes of Elune.
Strong “You can’t have the same toy as me!” vibes.
