It seems crazy to me that with all the simulation programs out there, how do they not know at least pretty close how much of a spread of dps there will be in any scenario for their classes?
Run a single target sim for each character in optimal stats. Hey look. Class X does 3k damage more than any other class. We should probably adjust that.
It shouldn’t take until after a game is out to figure this out.
Of course part of it could be they are ok with it because tuning causes class switching, which causes more time played and often more money spent in boosts and stuff.
So, someone is probably like ‘hey sir/ma’am, dh is pretty low in our sims. We were thinking of bringing it in line more’
‘Nah. If we do that, people will stick with that class, be content, and get bored in a month. We need to make sure they are playing alts and main switching for a few months. Then we’ll buff dh once they have max renown with another class and get more time played out of them gearing their dh.’
‘Sir/ma’am, that sounds kinda evil…’
‘The Horde is dead. Uh I mean, what?’
