just because you don’t have an interest in doing well doesn’t mean others won’t. If you don’t want to use world buffs, don’t. Reality check yourself and stop policing how others enjoy the game. I liked doing big numbers in OG vanilla with no logs, and I like doing big numbers with logs in SoD.
The design is inconsistent, asking for it to be boonable is an easy fix. If they want world buffs (buffs you get outside of raid) to be boonable, it should be boonable. I like using it on Tuesday, and then because I lived having the reward to continue using it on Thursday. But it means I am incentivized to not play the character between Tuesday and Thursday’s raid. Adding it to boon means I can play the game, and still have fun in raids doing big numbers.
There is no argument against it. You saying “stop taking the game so seriously!!!” is just you trying to get others to play the way you play.
I’m just here for a good time, not a long time.
The problem isnt that people enjoy playing that way, it’s that that mindset on how to play has spread like a plague and people can’t enjoy the game casually anymore.
Unless you do all that nonsense, you have a hard time finding people to play with.
It’s a big problem across most games.

Have you considered it is not a mindset plague and that most people just enjoy doing well in what they spend their time on? Especially on a 20-year-old video game. In any video game. Casual gameplay means something different to everyone. The change OP is asking for improves casual gameplay as well, because it means you can clear the raid twice a week more easily, and it means you can do stuff around the world rather than logging out to save a buff(a more hardcore way to play.)
We were enjoying playing games well before TikTok was conceptualized.
I really recommend some introspection on your part. The problem isn’t others.
I’m sure you can still find casual guilds who don’t have requirements for world buffs, if you can’t then I would recommend making one. If you can’t find players with similar mindsets for a ten man raid then that would indicate that you are in an extreme minority.
We should be able to save the boon with the 5% dmg buff.

I am in a guild and I get world buffs and consumes for every raid.

There was almost no one in ashenvale last night after the BFD reset because everyone is raid logging their chars to save their drums, it’s a bummer

This is an issue that affects nobody. The buff is not necessary to kill a single thing in the entire game, and there is not a single person who does not get loot because they didn’t use some arbitrary buff.
…that being said, such a statement about needing it to affect you to have an opinion on it is…correct. Back when we used to lobby for Shaman buffs, we would get blues trying to ask us questions about why we think the class is weak, and that they don’t view the class as weak. We told them that if they played the class, the weaknesses would be obvious. Response was that the blues who were talking with us had never, ever played a shaman, and don’t know the first thing about it. They were talking to us about a class they don’t even know exists.
We boo’d them out of the forums and told them not to come back until they either play the class for themselves, or just bring us a blue who either develops for the class, or does play one.

the fault in your logic here is that you assume people play the game for two reasons, to get gear or to kill every mob and this is incorrect. people can play the game for whatever reason they want. for many people that means playing optimally, I am so confused as to why people just close their eyes to this reality or dismiss it as “sweaty parsing”.
I feel like i’ve said this 100 times in this thread alone, let people play the game they want to especially if it doesn’t affect you. Moreover, blizzard has already acknowledged that people play the game this way and implemented a mechanic to prevent people from raid logging. the fact that this buff exists in a state that promotes raid logging is inconsistent with their own design.
