I’m curious to find out why they can’t start the update at 2AM Eastern, instead of waiting until 6AM.
I can see a small company with employees in one spot choosing to do stuff during working hours, but for some reason I thought Blizz was a somewhat larger company with employees all over the world.

They are not actually improving or fixing anything. It wont take them long to flip a few switches and apply all the incoming nerfs.

Because that’s an ungodly hour for Cali, where their dev team is at, and it’s just a video game. That would take hours in the middle of the night, going into very early morning. They aren’t medical or emergency workers. This isn’t that important.
It’s a chance to do something productive or play something else for a bit.

wow it is a long maintenance today - starts earlier than normal too. Lots of things to fix in beta I guess.

This is also basically a launch event.
What happened a couple of weeks ago was really a “soft launch”, like an extension of the beta really. Just the pre-season, which is no big deal. The real launch is today, with season 1, and so the servers come down to make sure everything is done properly – which wasn’t done with the soft launch a few weeks ago.

Is OP mad because 8h maintenance shouldn’t be a thing these days?
Or because they wanted to spam M+ for possible 203 gear prior to raid, and a 5pm server online would cut into that?

6am-2pm? Relatively short.
I remember the 2 hr maint. + 4hr patch up date in Wrath that broke and cause a 36hr maint. Was fun times.

I really wish some of these people that complain were around for the first 3 weeks of WoW Public Launch.
Daily downtime… 4-5 patches a day. Server crashes that rolled back progression for hours.
