I am pretty sure the toon that started this is an Orc not a troll, lol j/k
I mean any other chosen time for maintenance would be inconvenient for someone.
Where, in the world, or in what profession, is Tuesday the only day off?
Remember that the NA region also covers Australia.
I’m sure the game going down from 8PM to 2 AM would do wonders for that market.
I swear back hen I started, it was an overnight maint schedule, and eople complained about not being able to play at night after they worked all day…
I swear I remember the initial backlash when it changed to daytime ones, because people always need to complain.
Mandela effect?
I feel your pain, but if it’s any consolation, classic is up…maybe play that for a bit to scratch the itch?
Thats a great idea!
If the goal is to optimize for evening uptime (which would make sense, given when wow is played), they’ve chosen the least bad time for a region that stretches from Rio all the way to Perth.
That sucks. You need to bargain with your employer for a different day off. Don’t they play WoW?
I don’t think it’s a good idea. It’s good to have a consistent day because you know what to expect. If the days rotate people will be up in arms even more. When it’s a particular day you know it’s down so there shouldn’t be any complaints.
I’m okay with that
Took only 23 years …no BIG DEAL
Traditionally Tuesday was release day for new albums and movies (dvd, bluray, etc) so I wonder if that is why. Or perhaps they have some kind of data that shows Tuesdays have the least amount of traffic.
The cost for 6 hours of downtime on a $15 World of Warcraft subscription for 30 days would be approximately $0.13. So, I probably shouldn’t let such a tiny amount affect my emotional stability. Though, I do agree—boredom can come at a much greater cost.
Given that 84% of Americans work a shift between 6am and 6pm from Monday to Friday, and considering that Blizzard employees also work during those hours, it is more efficient to reset the servers within this time frame. This practice has been in place for 20 years, so there is no need to change it now.
you did me what? Your question has been answered thousands of times before. This is not the first thread on this topic. The fact remains that fewer people are impacted by maintenance every Tuesday for the past 20 years than would be if it were changed.
One of the few things that Blizzard does consistently is maintenance on Tuesdays. This practice has been in place for the last 20 years. Changing it to a rotating schedule would impact more people than leaving it unchanged.
It’s always about the 84%
Aye. It’s called ‘New Zealand’
I’m going to quote one of my friend’s mom when I was kicked out as a teenager.
“Life isn’t fair. Life sucks then you die.”
No matter what time they schedule their maintenance, they are always going to inconvenience someone somewhere.
As you clearly stated, you know it’s on tuesday. Don’t beg for things to change for you, control what is in your control. You can decide to stop whining and plan something else on your tuesday so you don’t “waste all day logged out of the game” as if you ever expected to play on tuesdays after saying that you know the maintenance is always on tuesdays.
Just do something else, literally.
