[Main thread] Nvidia 460.xx driver flickering

Same issue here, and no change with new drivers.

So its been a month now and nothing from Blizz to acknowledge they are working on it or working with Nvidia

Do they actually just think most of there users never upgrade their drivers?

Unless there is a driver that is improving a targeted game I own, then no I never upgrade my driver. Why would I? Unless it improves my gaming experience, why would I bother?

Just find a good video driver and stick with it. 457.51 works fine for wow. Theres literally no reason at all to change what works well.

For the record I am not excusing blizz or nivdia for this issue. I do actually think they are ignoring this issue. The flickering issue is actually a kinda old issue now, and has been ignored going on about 1-2 years now. I am just saying you can get around this issue by using the right drivers.

You’re missing the point. For many of us, there are other games we want to play that require newer drivers, such as Cyberpunk 2077. Good for you if WoW is the only game you play.

There is simply no excuse for this to still be an issue.

I am not excusing their ineptitude. Like I said for the record I believe this issue ( and many others ) have been ignored for far to long.

Hey everyone,

I just want to confirm that yes Nvidia is still aware of and working on this issue. It has not been forgotten. Our WoW / QA team have been in contact with Nvidia and they are working together to make sure it gets resolved.

We generally don’t post updates unless we have meaningful information to share about an issue. That does not indicate that it’s been forgotten or no work is being done. We have not had anything to share since our last post, since there hasn’t been a patch or new driver that addresses the flickering.

Hopefully we will have some good news to share soon, and in the meantime there are work arounds available.

I also was experience foliage flickering, but it seems to be gone when I turn off my anti-aliasing. It was set at MSAA 8x. I have a GTX 1070

Thank you for the update. Please come back and keep us up to speed once in a while (hopefully a bit more frequently). We can all hopefully understand that these things take time and its good to know it’s still being worked on.

I have been experiencing this issue on a 3080 and it seems to be getting worse and worse. I’m looking forward to the fix.

Hope the drivers update soon. Even with some of the workarounds I have started experiencing headaches and had to get off due to the flickering. It is definitely a problem that is getting worse as time goes on. I have lowered my settings and that helped but it was getting to the point where the flickering never stopped no matter where i was or what i was doing in Shadowlands content.

came here to say i’m also experiencing this issue a lot more lately. any update on a solution?

In other words, “They’re working on it with Nvidia, no fix date known yet.”

This problem is driving me crazy, 2080 super…please fix it!

If this isn’t fixed by the time Nvidia releases resizable BAR drivers I’m not sure I can see how to continue playing WoW. Hate to say it but that’s my line in the sand and it’s simply asking for too great a sacrifice.

My DxDiag says its to large to post…

Just roll back to 457.51 and call it a day dudes. No sense getting on their case. It’s an NVidia issue, not WoW.

The reasons why this isn’t practical have been stated multiple times.

I have a video posted in the other thread about this (that I just responded to), showing how bad mine gets in Ardenweald. Used to be just Ardenweald, now it’s going on in all SL zones. No issues outside of the Shadowlands content.

I’ve done everything they say to do in the comments sections, as far as other commenters. Tried rolling back the version, which Windows 10 apparently keeps reverting for some reason, but even when I rolled it back it was still happening.

I also run dual-screens, with an nVidia GTX 1060.
I suffer from photo-sensitive migraines, so this mess constantly spam-flickering like that usually ends in me only being able to play Shadowlands content for a few hours, before I end up having to go somewhere else. It’s pretty rough. I feel for people who have seizure issues that are experiencing this stuff.

461.09 still happens. 3080 yadda. Not downgrading just for wow but just giving another data point.

Im not seeing the issue but im not playing in the shadow lands areas, so must be a wow issue. I play other games and don’t see it there either.
