[Main Thread] Download Stuck on 0% initializing then BLZBNTAG0000138F

I’ve been trying to reinstall the game on my Mac book air which has had no problems in the past. I have fast internet and the space on the computer.

Keep getting BLZBNTAG0000138F

Scan and Repaired multiple times, same error

Deactivated Battle.net “Agent” program in Activity Monitor, even deleted the Agent file like Blizzard said.

Uninstalled Battle.net multiple times, deleted all related files before reinstalling. Ran anti viral check

Did a hard drive diagnostic, disk repair and Updated my computer

Gave Battle.Net full disk access. Gave WoW read & write permissions

Still the same problem keeps on happening.

Anyone got any ideas??

First Update

I had reset my laptop. It’s currently on OS Ventura. I tried what comment 14 (from the Blizzard team recommended) it did not work.

BTW Important Info: the Firewall settings on Mac moved from Security to the Network section.

I am currently updating my computer and will go over the whole reinstallation and firewall process all over again.

Second Update

Did it on Sonoma, did not work. even with the suggestions others have listed below.

Sadly, I can’t bypass the Battle.net app to play the game when I have not been able to download it in the first place.

If you already have the game - go ahead and try that.

I’m having the same problem for days now (Windows 10), nothing seems to solve it.

Can’t play the game either over here. Been trying to update for around an hour now, and it won’t allow me to scan and repair either (just says Whoops! Something went wrong!)

16" M1 Max 32GB MBP.

Didn’t attempt to reinstall or anything like that, just logging in for the first time today, and have not had any notable new/major issues until now.

Edit: Going to try and update to Sonoma 14.1 right now and see if I regret it (I saw a huge thread in the Mac forum talking about crashes and issues). Maybe it will work in reverse for me. That or I doubly screw myself. Here we gooooo! :upside_down_face:

Same Issue for me too. Likely something they will need to hotfix after this update

Hey everyone,

Thank you all for reporting this! There was a small update pushed earlier, and it looks like most of you are getting error code “BLZBNTAGT0000138F” (or a similar “Whoops!” error). The underlying cause of this error varies, so if you haven’t already, please be sure to try these troubleshooting steps.

In some cases, the Mac firewall needs to be configured:

  1. From the Apple menu (top-left of your screen), click System Preferences > Network.
  2. Click the Firewall tab.
  3. Unlock the pane by clicking the padlock icon in the lower-left corner and entering the administrator username and password.
  4. Click Firewall Options.
  5. Using the + icon, add “agent.app” which is located in Agent folder (i.e. /Users/Shared/Battle.net/Agent).
  6. Add “agent.app” which is located in Agent.XXXX (xxxx is a number) folder (i.e. /Users/Shared/Battle.net/Agent/Agent.XXXX.
  7. Add the Battle.net App in the Applications folder.
  8. Allow incoming connections for all three.

Once finished, restart your system and try again.

If the error persists, please send us your Blizzard Logs so we can further investigate this. Here are the instructions. Once you have the zip file, please email it to us:

Had the same issue here. Not sure if this is Mac specific but may be an issue on Windows as well. I found multiple Agent.XXXX files and deleted the oldest one. Update finished and was able to log in. This seems to happen a lot unfortunately.
Path for Mac Users: ~/Users/Shared/Battle.net/Agent/Agent.XXXX

OK, I did all that, went into Firewall Options, added “agent” from the Agent folder, “agent” from the Agent.xxxx folder, and Battle.net from the Applications folder. So now instead of “initializing/0%” I’m getting a “waiting/0%” and it’s not doing anything. What now?

Hello Skelgarer. That worked for me. Thanks! Interesting, though, that my firewall was turned off - I use my router firewall - so I had to enable it. I then added only the agent.app in the agent folder and that fixed the issue.

Same here on Apple silicon. I closed out of battle.net account opened Mac’s Activity Monitor and forced closed Blizzard’s Agent app running in the background. Then relaunched Battle.net and it worked.
