[Main Thread] Crashes on launch after maintenance Jan 24th

same, they said they can’t put any new patch in till tuesday :frowning:

The only thing that changed for me is I can now see the intro video for dragon flight which is odd because I have already seen it. But once the video completes or I escape out of it the game crashes like before.

iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2014)
MacOS 11.7.3 Big Sur
4 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7
16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
AMD Radeon R9 M295X 4 GB

Based on my specs I was hoping I would fall under that AMD specific issues with OS X 11 but apparently not.

This is frustrating losing out on a whole week or raiding (or possibly more). Will rewards from vault still be accessible next week or will those be lost since they won’t be claimed this raid week? The loss of being able to progress this week is extremely infuriating as a paying customer for a service I cannot use.

You DO fall under the AMD issue. You have an AMD and are on Big Sur. That combo is still broken.

I was referencing what the post said:

I took that to mean the patch or game update I saw today should of resolved my issue.

Ah I see. If you look at last night’s green posts from Omegal and blue post from Rommax you’ll see Big Sur (11) and Monterrey (12) are still having issues depending on the graphics card you have.

This fix happened more quickly than the last time it happened, so that’s encouraging! I hope the Blizz tech team will find a cunning strategy to minimize the same trouble in the future

Hopefully Mac users will be compensated in some way. Very frustrating.

Late to reply tot his one, but yes something else is going on where that has to be rechecked. Intel gpus specifically are crashing somewhere else entirely that other gpus aren’t, and we just didn’t know about it until you got past the first crash. Basically this issue was fixed for you, BUT another issue revealed itself that could only be revealed by resolving the LAUNCH Crash. I’m sure monday the “after movie” crash will be looked at with fresh info because that is a different crash/cause

Anybody know when it will work?

Not sure sounds like they won’t be able to get to it till Monday when everyone is back in from the weekend. Hopefully give them a day or two they will get it figure it out… soon… seems to be a bit of a mess. I’m in the same boat…

Updating the system to Ventura (13.2) does eliminate the connection issue. Not saying that this is appropriate, but it does work.

I had purchased the Dragonflight edition that came with 30 days of game time, and now that’s expired and I lost a few days at the end because of this error. While I liked playing, I don’t really want to spend to re-up my subscription if its not going to work for me. Can we get any actual indications of when these issues will be fixed and what kind of compensation we’ll all get for the lost time everyone has paid for?

Ive let Battle net do its thing yesterday installing whatever patch was available…Now when I try to Launch the game the WOW icon doesn’t even pop up. I just get a mac crash error that WOW quit a few moments later.

Yall remember that Microsoft bought Activision in 2022? It seems like this might be the beginning (edit: the continuation) of the end…

My bliz ticket said that it was related to intel GPUs, while that’s my case, thats not exclusively the case as above users have listed new M1 chips and eGPUs as well as Radeon and AMD’s.

Model: Mac mini (Late 2014)
Processor: 3ghz dual core
GPU: Intel Iris Graphics
RAM: 8gb

Long time player here and I’ve gotten two of my son’s hooked on the game as well. Just had a discussion with one of my son’s and even though Mac players are probably a lower percentage of the total WOW pie, I’d like the company to look at some other stats. Mac owners normally are in a higher/stronger financial bracket. ( Due to the Apple tax. ) Are Mac players more likely to have auto-subscriptions? Are Mac players more likely to buy the collector editions of the expansions? Are Mac players more likely to spend real money in the shops? If the bean counters are just looking at the overall % of Mac players to PC players to decide what get support, then they should look deeper. I have bought some of the collectors editions and I have played primarily on Mac’s my whole time. WOW is one of the games that Mac’s can still play at a decent level. I hope this gets fixed soon. Best of luck everyone!

For people who have to use Macs for one reason or another, this is a very common line of thinking. Wow has been sort of a bastion for people in these situations, me included. Sad to see it coming to an end.

Seems to be working for me now. Still crashes if I try to manually adjust the WoW window size (I don’t like full screen mode), but otherwise its working. I have an accent (by Windows standards, but not so uncommon for Mac users) system:

iMac (27-inch, Late 2013), macOS Catalina (Version 10.15.7)
Processor: 3.5 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7
Memory: 32 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M 4 GB

Working for others?
