[Main Thread] Crashes on launch after maintenance Jan 24th

I have two Late 2013 iMacs with identical specs (i7, 780m 4GB GPU) that my daughters use, and both crash on launch and get the error on Retail WoW. Classic launches fine on both.

On my M1 Mac Mini everything is working fine.

Got the exact same response to my ticket

They have given an update. It’s a known issue, it’s being worked on and it will hopefully be out soon. Do you expect hourly updates? To what purpose?

Same problem here. The update of latest patch was done without any issue, but when i try to launch the game it crashes. Never had any issue with wow for 11 years. I have Imac 27’’ with macOS Catalina 10.15.7
already posted a ticket to support , meanwhile i can’t play the game i love and pay!
Please fix it.

Something just happened. I gave it another try before leaving and I got a message to check my authenticator. Checked my phone and there was a message to approve it was me, click it and game started updating again. Launching
same message “unexpected error”. It seems they’re working on it.

well that’s if they can fix it. It might just be the end for older MAC users

I’m as frustrated as the next person but trying my best to be patient and understanding. The rude and nasty comments are quite cringey. These are likely the same people who send celebrities/influencers death threats just for saying something they don’t like.

My battle.net now shows it as Updating (Initializing but at 0%). Better than no activity or communication at least!

Can confirm that updating from Big Sur to Ventura 13.2 fixed this for me. My Mac has Metal3 compatible GPUs, there doesn’t appear to be a fix for older Macs that don’t meet the Metal3 specs due to the memory leak issue.

False alarm. It never went past 0% and is no longer updating. Cruel joke.
