Exact same problem here. Perfectly described - black screen with cursor then crash screen.
Make/Model of the system: iMac (retina 27 inch, late 2014)
Processor: 4 GHz Quad Core Intel i7
GPU: AMD Radeon R9 M295X 4GB
OS Version: Catalina 10.15.7
16 GB Ram, SSD Hard Drive
Iâm having the same exact issue unfortunatelyâŚwould love for it to be fixed so I can cap my characters as capping 4 characters is a huge time commitmentâŚ
Blizzard is in league with the daily notification prompting me to upgrade.
Should be a magic apple pet with lasers and can bonk people in a different color for each infraction or an imp with an apple on its head. lol
Still not working.
Yea, not working for me still. It wonât even open really, just WoW cursor & then crash.
This is a non-option for any Mac that does not have a Metal 3 capable GPU. That means most Intel Macs are unable to use this for a fix due to the Metal 2 memory leak that Apple seems to be ignoring entirely (it canât be worked around by Blizzard as it isnât specific to Blizzard games in Ventura).
Yup, same problem as everyone. Battlenet crashes while updating the patch. After 17 restarts, I finally managed to download the patch(s), but now am stuck on reclaiming space - and then it crashes. I can get into the game if I manage to pause Battlenet update quickly enough, but then I crash before actually being able to log in. Running Monterey, was fine until this patchâŚ
Ventura doesnât explain why WoW worked fine on all the different Macs/MacOS versions before the maintenance on Jan 24th.
It annoys me the most that i scrolled through and found a reply here from a Community manager. The reply said they are aware of it and are currently hot fixing the coding issue. Yet, here we are even after the 2nd maintenance and spam crashing. Should i upgrade to Ventura right now and it will work? Or it varies?
following, after maintenance it still does not work.
Alot of Macs, even a couple years old, cant be upgraded to Ventura, such as mine⌠Worked perfectly fine before the patch. If I have to buy a new computer to play WoW, well I guess I wont be playing WoW. Unfortunate too cause I was really enjoying my return to WoW after a multi-year break.
My older Late 2014 iMac is getting crash after crash on 11.7.1.
My M2 MacBook Air on 13.2 loads the game without any trouble.
So much for testing on older models/OSs.
The lack of communication on blizzards end is kinda insane. A whole maintenance break and still nothing to show
Same here. Loaded any available patches. Preformed scan/fix a number of times. Restarted computer. No success. Sending in crash reports to Blizzard.
All add-ons up-to-date.
Running MACOS Big Sur 11.7.2 on a iMac 4Ghz Quad-Core Intel Core i7 with 16 GB 1600 Mhz DDR4 RAM AMD Radeon R9 M295X 4 GB Graphics
Anyone confirm that when they installed Ventura the client then worked?
I never said it did. I simply said that updating to Ventura is not an option for most Mac users due to the Metal 2 memory leak.
Unless you are on an M-series (ARM64) Mac or have one of the few Intel Macs that have a GPU supported by Metal 3, do not upgrade to Ventura. Youâll experience a memory leak that will give you massive migraines. If you are either on a Mac that is only supported by Metal 2 or are unsure of which Metal family your GPU belongs to, stay off Ventura and wait for a fix from Blizzard.
Thatâs great. And it also potentially points to code specifically fixed in 13.2. Unfortunately that means a workaround may be necessary on Blizzardâs end due to the aforementioned Metal 2 memory leak on non-Metal 3 GPU Macs.
I resubbed a month ago after skipping SL and now this. I guess itâs time to unsub again.
Oh the pet should 100% be rainbow wheelâŚ
