This seemed to begin yesterday after the weekly maintenance. I was one right before the server went down and everything was working as it should. I have already gone through the process of resetting interface (renamed Cache, Interface and WTF folders) and that did not make any changes. I have not seen this reported anywhere else. Also, this is a fairly fresh install of the game as I just got this PC a week ago.
Issue: I’ll have indication of new mail and open the mailbox and nothing is there. Wait about 30-60 seconds and all my mail pops-up and I get it normally. Last night I was able to send mail, but again had to wait about 30-60 seconds after clicking the Send button for it to go through. Sometimes closing and reopening the mailbox and trying again works. I can send mail after jumping through a couple hoops. I put in the character name and attachments then click the ‘Send’ button, turns grey and nothing happens. Wait about 30-seconds or so and delete the character name and re-enter the name, click ‘Send’ and the mail will send.
Auction House also seems to have some lags, especially after cancelling an auction the interface won’t refresh. Just end up with a spinning circle. I’ll close out the AH and try to open again, but it won’t open. Again after about 30-seconds it will finally open.
Edit: Seems the issue is isolated to one character on this account (which that one does not show up as one i can choose whilst in the forums). My others have an ever so slight delay in getting/sending mail and they don’t interact with the AH.
Huh, yeah, haven’t heard of this at all on my end, and it doesn’t act up for me at all
Do you use any addons? This could be a conflict with addons causing the delay between all those actions, I’m assuming the game isn’t being laggy in any other way
Yup, I’ve been seeing the same thing since the reset. There was another post yesterday about it as well, but still waiting for it to gain some traction: Mail inbox lag
I have noticed it’s better right now than it was last night. I couldn’t even send mail last night, where I had no trouble this morning. It could be affected by the amount of players online/using the mail, though. I’m still seeing a slight delay in receiving mail/collecting items, but not as bad as last night.
Seems to have gotten worse as the day progresses. Still having to wait 30-60 seconds for the mail to show up then another 30 or so seconds before the attachment of the 1st piece of mail can be retrieved. At least once it gets going there is no more lag. Again, just on my AH toon. My other have a very short delay before their mail appears and no issues opening.
Unfortunately I don’t think that this is going to be one of those issues that we’re able to troubleshoot here in Tech Support. Since it only started happening after weekly maintenance/reset and since a Reset UI doesn’t affect it it’s probably more of a server issue / bug. I’d recommend reporting it over in the Bug Report forums: #support:bug-report
If it’s affecting just one character, but other players are noticing the delay too, then hopefully it’s something that our QA team can reproduce.
As a follow up, we’ve escalated this to be looked at by our Quality Assurance team. If anybody else is having this error, we’d like some more information.
Does this happen on all characters, or just one?
If just one, what is the Character Name and Realm name?
Approximately how many Auctions are posted per day on that character?
If you can post that info, we can see if it’ll help our QA team reproduce things.
I am experiencing the above stated problem on my main server of Windrunner US. My mail on all of my characters will delay anywhere from 2-5 seconds today. Last night the delay was much worse–around 20 seconds or more. I have experienced some lag when my mailbox is emptying.
I have sent mail to other characters on other servers, namely on Hyjal and Garrosh, and I have no delay with those characters. Same account by the way. I tested Windrunner on another account that I have active but barely use other than to play Classic, and I experienced the same issue on my characters on Windrunner. Hyjal was fine (that was the only other server I used on that account).
As far as auctions go, I post several auctions across 9 characters. Each character posts varying amounts of auctions from fewer than 10 to over 70 auctions daily. I did not notice any difference in the amount of “mailbox lag” that I experienced.
One other thing I noticed on a couple characters. Right after I tried to send items to another character, nothing would send. I logged off right after that, but there was a five to 10 second delay of my character logging off. I could still see actions by NPCs and players; not the normal screen freeze when you log off. I was in Ironforge when I logged off. I should not of experienced that “logoff lag” being in a rested area. Possibly related?
I have the same issue. I put in a ticket for it and the only solution i got back was to delete addons and reset ui. I did that and it didnt help.
My character is Revames on Mugthol. it is the character i use for the Auction House. I post around 200-300 auctions a day. When i go to the mailbox it takes about 2-3 mins to show contents and then about 5 mins per item to get transfered to my bag.
I will sometimes get a “item not found error”. I have found that if i open the mailbox and then close it and try to do other things there is a massive lag. examples are… mounting, using portals, using vendor, logging off.
So far this only seems to happen on one character.
Just logged in on my AH toon and opened the mailbox. Mail popped up right away and ti all opened with no issues. Haven’t tried to send yet so not sure if that is working as expected now too.
Glad things are working better now. We’re gonna keep an eye on the thread for the next few days and watch out for more reports - if the problem returns before I lock this up, please let us know!
