I think Tyrande and Furion are boring. Allow me to copy what I said in a similar thread that’s endorsing Shandris for leader:
You might think she’s too much of a zealot. Or that she’s some sort of traitor to the night elven people. But I submit that she’s actually more loyal to her kind than any of the other supposed leaders.
So, let’s kill off Tyrande and Furion in some lovers pact, and make Maiev (solo, she don’t need no man) the new leader. She’ll be more interesting, and by extension, return the night elves to a more interesting state: xenophobic, savage, fighters.
This is a good idea. Until you realize that she would probably try to Assassinate Anduin. Unless you count that as a good thing. Then I implore you to continue.
If maiev had more power - all shen’drelar would be dead. Tyrande and Malfurion were dead, all priestessess are convert into wardens or dead, all druids left or killed.
It depends will Blizzard finally start writing her like they should again? Because they butchered her ever since Legion. All the sudden not trying to murder people. Literally freeing the people who she hunted down and tried to imprison forever. And then she proceeded to just be right beside Illidan her literal torturer. And in BFA this trend continued in the Night Warrior scenario. Hopefully they put her on the right path again.
Maiev would make a great leader, sure, and I’m all for that if she wants to step up, but there’s no reason to kill tyrande or malfurion off, and doing so is a disservice to all night elf players.
Malfurion, especially, is one of the most powerful mortals on azeroth, right up there with thrall as the world shaman. Just because you think he’s boring (because the WoW writers dont know left from right) doesnt mean he should lose all merit as a character.
Maiev wouldn’t allowed to be leader because she’s no longer a Priestess of Elune. Isn’t that step one of being the leader being the High Priestess and chosen by Elune?
Just because he’s powerful, doesn’t mean that he has a right to exist. It doesn’t mean that he’s written well or that his character makes any sense in recent expansions.
He was a great character in Warcraft 3. But I no longer feel he is. He feels like he’s some kind of beta now that has basically lost his balls.
That’s if we were going to go with traditional rules.
I’m proposing that Maiev takes over the night elves through force. I think there’s enough “old guard” types present in the population that would back her old-school views.
Especially after the tree. I think this could be so interesting. And relevant.
I believe OP needs to read up on Maiev’s long history of being a killer and her psychological instability. She definately could be Alliance’s Sylvanas in-training!
Maiev would be good, but if she was the leader, she’d be ruined as well.
I said it before and I’ll say it again. With nelves, is not about who’s in charge of the race in lore, it’s about the people in charge IRL, and they just don’t care about Nelves.
Basically every weak and corrupting influence in night elf society from Tyrande, to druids more concerned with their horde friends than their own people, to simpering Alliance kings would be gone. Sounds ideal.
if it means a mountain of dead horde and several burned horde cities I’m game. It’s not like there would be any consequences, just look at all the sylvie loyalists now
For thousands of years, the [Sisters of Elune] held by far the most power; as one of a small handful of kaldorei organizations to survive the War of the Ancients, with membership based upon aptitude and not lineage, high priestess [Tyrande Whisperwind] reorganized the order to direct the [Sentinels]). She herself became the sole ruler of the night elf nation, remaining that way for thousands of years.
Since the NE are super zealous and Elune is the most important thing, seems reasonable the sisterhood would be the main power tool. Since Tyrande is in charge of the sisters, she’s in charge of the NE.
So whoever leads the sisters, will lead the elves.
