I was one of the few people to obtain a Magician’s Mantle prior to Invoker’s Mantle release. It’s ridiculous to introduce such a drastically better item that is significantly cheaper to make. Blizzard needs to buff Magician’s Mantle to keep it on point as a BiS caster item that is only obtained as a rare world drop similar to how every other item proficiency class has. I suggest +3 armor, +2 spell power, +2 level requirement. Another viable option would be to have an NPC give you the option to turn it in for a decent amount of gold (5-10g) or better yet have a quest chain that allows you to upgrade Invoker’s Mantle with having Magician’s Mantle as a requirement. In the future please consider other stat itemizations and rarity before adding in BiS pieces to the game mid-phase.
Or maybe don’t overpay for preBIS for level 25 experimental content. With class changes and rep grind changes, we should know by now things are going to get changed on the fly.
“don’t overpay” it wasn’t overpaying when the item was BIS. it’s only overpaying now because the cost of creating what is effectively a better item is significantly cheaper and much easier to get. Silly comment.
So I offer some solid and fun suggestions and your idea is to not acquire gear since there might be better gear later. Got it.
It’s not solid suggestions, since it logically leads to expect compensation every time some item is nerfed or made easier to acquire, or some catch up mechanic is introduced. How can you even calculate that compensation since the value of any item fluctuates anyway?
If you think that having that item was needed to get into BFD, then it was worth what you paid for. You got that power on your toon several weeks earlier.
“item is nerfed or made easier to acquire, or some catch up mechanic is introduced” Please reread my comment for clarity if you have any confusion. This item is now BiS as I stated, not any of the above which you assumed from my post. That is why I am suggesting accommodations that Blizzard clearly overlooked.
Well why should Blizzard compensate you for magician mantle not being BiS anymore, or being worth less on the market? Should they also compensate people who grinded rep boxes to honored when now you get the runes at friendly? What I was listing in my post is just some other ways where the effective gold value of an item would go down.
I am hoping they compensate everybody to make the game better. I agree that they should have implemented bonus rewards for those that did the extra honor grind.
But how do you determine the value of that? People buy stuff on the AH for all kinds of prices. And you would need to introduce depreciation because having something now is worth more than something else later. See how big a can of worms that would be?
Yeah! How dare they make the vast majority of casters happy! And you don’t have to pay an arm and a leg? What is wrong with blizzard. ← This is what you sound like OP
This reminds me of when new tier sets come out… I go though all the effort of getting my bis gear and its nullified by the next content release. Blizzard, if youre reading this, please dont release any new content - I need my bis gear to STAY bis … forever!
Average Market Value - Average Gold Income/hour * Average Time Played prior to item adjustment. I didn’t do any math behind my evaluation, but it shouldn’t be that hard to come up with some number that works. I doubt adding more gold into the game is any good for the game, but it was a suggestion considering how rare the item is in the first place to where it hardly matters in the grand scheme of gold generation.
They aren’t going to spend development time on this. It’s not as easy as you think. The buffs to the item you suggested are marginal and nearly irrelevant.
I demand a patch just for me! I spent gold I deserve it! >>> retail thataway
I believe you’re missing my point. I’m making this post so that there’s enough influence the Dev Team to make some adjustment. I also provided multiple suggestions to assist in how they decide to adjust the issue.
Just wait until you find out about the 6 int, 5 spellpower shoulders that you get for free from the Lorgus Jett quest. Why are you making such a fuss over an item that is such a minor upgrade from a quest reward?
No, I understand the point. I’m telling you that with all of the things demanding their attention, this is unlikely to make the list.
“a drastically better item that is significantly cheaper to make…a BiS caster item that is only obtained as a rare world drop similar to how every other item proficiency class has.” I hope this answers your question.
It’s a clear oversight in itemization to make a highly sought after BIS item pretty much null on the fly. I don’t understand why all of you are disagreeing with OP’s comment. Trying to help blizzard realize an obvious mistake isn’t the same as new tier from another phase. Instead of constantly shooting down other players concerns just because it’s not exactly obvious to you how this could impact the game in the future or how it already has show some support to the community of players
I smell some buyer’s remorse.
