Icy lock and molten lock chests in dragonflight are completely unopenable to most players. As they are utterly immune to physical damage none of the weapon enchants or oils work. There is an exceedingly long way to open 1 chest every 2 hours with bypass mechanism but that’s not cool. There is a way to open molten locks if you can get something to stand near one and use a phial of glacial fury but that’s not very reliable either. This just leaves mages and other people who can cast fire and frost spells. I mean if these chests were only meant for mages, why make it where anyone else can see them? And one final note, if you engage one of these chests you are stuck in combat forever. You have to hearth or crash the game to exit combat.

I figured out you can use EZ-Thro Dynamite and other consumables to open up Icy Lock chests. (Still trying to figure out how to open Molten Chests without the CD).

tried ez throw on a frozen chest, did nothing. unsure if it was just the position of the chest or not since it was between a wall and a Nest.
But the Glacial Phial that makes you do frost damage do break Molten chests. have to pull a mob to get the proc though.
i was able to use my decoration of flame to open the icy one

Permanent Frost Essence doesn’t work, Stolen Breath doesn’t work, even the Endothermic Blaster doesn’t work
My main is an Elemental Shaman. Frost Shock actually worked in breaking the molten lock.
Yeah these things are great for Shamen (and Mages). The question is whether it was intended that most other classes can only open one every 2 hours.
Unsure what the actual intent is/was. Didn’t even know other classes had a locked out period, because I was only opening about 1 per day, because one would pop up on a casual fly by. Had to go to Wowhead to read on how to open them; element chests are broken by using it’s negative.

Not easy for druids, none of my spell works. I can engineer explosive that works on ice but I haven’t found something for fire so I just use the bypass feature. I find them maybe once every 2 or 3 days so the long CD isn’t an issue

because you aren’t supposed to use toys, you are supposed to use fire or frost damage.
Priest here. I was able to break a molten lock with the trinket Conjured Chillglobe. If you get this from raid save it !
Confirmed. Hunter Explosive Shot works on Icy Lock Chests.

I have no way to produce fire damage and was reporting as such so that other people in my position don’t waste their time doing the same things
Holy spec can use holy fire to open icy chest and shadow can use mind spike for molten chest.
