Just a note for any BM Hunters out there the Chimera pet family’s frost breath ability will freeze molten chests. I have tried it and it worked. I used bombs with fire damage for the icy ones. But I agree they don’t really have a lot of good options for characters without elemental attacks like Warriors for example.
Expedition Explosives that you get from Pathfinder Jeb works on icy chest. I just opened one, it takes a sec to open so make sure all monsters are dead before you put it on there. I have not seen a molten chest yet. But will start looking for some icy something to open when I find one.

as mentioned previously, every player is given an ability called “Mechanism Bypass”.

you might check what toys you have available that might work too. If it’s frosty you need fire, and if it’s fire, you need frost type… even lighting a cooking fire should help with the frost one I think. Been awhile since I seen a frost one though so can’t say for sure.

I personally used the Mechanism Bypass in the main spell book, or the Expedition Explosives . The explosives only have a 5 minute CD on them. You can get them from the Dragonscale Expedition. Hope this helps.
