Mag'har Warlocks - Not Green?

The issue is less “why would a mag’har learn fel magic?”
and more “A mag’har that learns fel magic just becomes not mag’har anymore” or at least in theory

I could see Mag’har locks not being considered true mag’har anymore by those who aren’t against the usage of fel magic. If anything it becomes a point of interest for a PC. Warlocks are meant to be outcasts, so it wouldn’t be farfetched if these mag’har were banished.

And practice.

It would be like “What if a LF Draenei wasn’t Lightforged….?”.

Answer is simple, “It would just be a Draenei”.

I said in theory primarily because of the debate as to whether just fel magic alone or demon blood specifically turns orcs green.
Either way, it does throw a wrench in the works when your identity is literally called “Uncorrupted” and you’re throwing around the very corruption it’s talking about.

I’m sure Blizz will come up with something to fix this problem like they did with Lok’osh. Sure they had to fix a few minor issues with the names but once enough people complain enough they’ll come up with some sort of decent enough reasoning.

I have to wonder, just how many people actually want to play a LF Draenei Warlock?

You are spot on. Not only would Mag’har Orc Warlocks have their skin turn green very quickly, since it’s part of what happens to an Orc when they’re exposed to fel energy or use it directly, but they’d no longer be ‘Mag’har’ because Mag’har literally means “Uncorrupted.”

Also, Geya’rah, the leader of the Mag’har. She hates warlocks! So she wouldn’t tolerate a Mag’har Warlock within her own ranks.

It’s likely whoever was responsible for making the decision to allow warlocks for these new races didn’t bother to consult with anyone responsible for the lore.

Seems on par for Blizzard.

At this point they should remove Mag’har orcs.

Mag’har Orcs existing is fine.

Provided Blizzard respects their identity, which is that they’re from AU Draenor and do not like the fel or the light.

Mag’har warlocks is a hard one. It can be done though. You could play upon Oronok Torn-heart from alt Draenor as the leader of the warlocks of The Mag’har. He was the one who stood against Gul’dan when he tried to use the cypher of damnation against Draenor. When Gul’dan was thrusted into our timeline on Azeroth; the remaining members of the Shadow Council was without a leader. They were rudderless. They could have been granted amnesty by the Mag’har Clans as enough orc blood has been spilled.
It could be decided by the Mag’har leaders that Oronok could lead them on better path with the actions demonstrated when he stood against Gu’ldan.

The biological part is what seems like a constraint to me. Orcs turn green when exposed to Fel. We already have green orcs…

Mag’har in WoD turned grey not green when they drank the demon blood.

The ones on the Shadow Council turn Green while the others turned Grey upon ingesting Fel Blood.

Even among them Gul’dan who is half-Demon grows spikes on his back but doesn’t change color even after being given lots of Fel and an even more Demonic Form until Sargeras gives him his Fireland-Fire Infused Fel.

This suggests that the biology of AU Orcs is so fundamentally different from MU Orcs that only certain breeds mutate from the usual exposure to Fel that Orc Warlocks receive and even they rarely get the Red Skin mutation from drinking Demon Blood(the only example is a Dire Orc).

Grey skin is a result of directly drinking the demon blood, exposure to fel (such as in the case of Teron’gor before he turned into a bloated soul monster) turns an Orc’s skin green.

Gul’dan also, notably had green skin.

Mag’har skin colour changing due to corruption is canon lore. But more importantly, the moment Mag’har start using fel, they are no longer Mag’har, since Mag’har literally means “Uncorrupted”. It has no other meaning. Once they’re corrupted they’re not Mag’har, they’re just your bog standard Orc.

IMO, just give the Orc race access to some of the Mag’har visual options (without actually giving them Mag’har skin tones) and make it clear that, if you want to play an Orc Warlock, you already have that option and have since vanilla.

One of the most well known friendly warlocks is Ritssyn Flamescowl and he’s not green. He’s like grey/light purple.

I think there’s always been some stipulation on Warlocks and their fel usage. Orcs aren’t the only race that changes colors based on magic usage/consumption; Eredar turned red, Orcs in Draenor turned grey and spiky, Tauren turn greenish, etc.

Not even to mention that other magics can change appearances as well as seen with the Lightforged and Lothraxion for the light, DK’s for death magic, the Void Elves for the void, etc.

Warlocks have never turned a different color just due to magic usage, this just feels like a weak complaint. There are issues to be had (notably Lightforged Draenei being warlocks (light + fel?), but this is just not one of them.
